Hi guys,

I'm wondering if my job is really considered an oil and gas job and what options are there for me in the future.

I'm currently working as a surveyor.

Inspecting and witnessing transfer of cargo which consists of oil, gas and chemicals. For those who don't know, for example if there's a client who wants to purchase crude from Petronas, we would have to standby on the tanker as well as the terminal, to witness the transfer, calculate cargo transfer and take samples for analysis. Working locations vary from tankers, onshore terminals, FPSO. We do bunkering for vessels/tankers as well. I also do of minerals bulk cargo such as barite and iron ore.

Can anyone tell me the career path of the job i'm currently in? I know that I can get tons of experience, but the problem is, who would actually want to hire me next time.

I am very lucky to get the job as I do not have any relevant "certs", and I am thinking of doing some distant learning as well.

Can anyone provide me good advice? Thanks.
