It is sad for O&G in Malaysia where they choose employees based on skin colour. Petronas has a quota correct me if I am wrong 70% bumi and 30% non-bumi. Those sub contractor or contractor must fulfill this quota in order to get contract from Petronas.

Previously, I was invited for interview one of Petronas contractor, but was last minute rejected due to over race quota. I was abit disgusted on this issue as they look into skin color rather than qualification.

At the end of the day, they decided to hire a bumi...oh well now I defected out of Malaysia and I find that better opportunity.

is it a jv between technip or a company on its own? how is working there like? im just afraid suddenly the cooperation between technip & mmhe didnt go well halfway through, company close down. currently working with contractor (hint: the two company that just merge)

Just went for TMH interview for the position of graduate engineer. The problem is they have to bond you for 5 years which is what i am worrying about. Lets say if i am not happy there i can't just resign within the 5 years.

5yrs?! what is d job scope n salary they offering? i know alstom contract 5yrs too, but that is a well established entity with good pay n lots of perks.

Salary wise will project engineer lose out alot to drilling engineer in long run. I'm talking about 10 years of exp in project maybe a project manager salary compared with lead drilling engineer? I'm a project engineer myself currently working in EPCC contractor company. Just want to how bright is my career path.

Oil and Gas Experts, I need your help in deciding which job offer I should choose. Any advice is very much appreciated. 

I am a fresh graduate, and this shall be my first job in oil and gas industry. Hence, I want to treasure this golden opportunity and make the best of it. For that, the salary is not really a primary deciding factor. I want to prioritize in accumulating knowledge and experience, as to build my competences in this industry.

Which job is the best, especially in term of job prospect and career advancement?

1. TL Offshore Sdn. Bhd. (a SapuraKencana Petroleum company)
Field of Work of Company: Offshore Construction (International), Offshore Construction & Subsea Services. Transportation, erection and installation of offshore pipelines and facilities.
Post: Junior Engineer.
My Possible Job Scope: being a field engineer. Other task is to use spreadsheet programs to perform engineering calculations.
2. Aker Engineering Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
Field of Work of Company: concept and feasibility studies, front-end engineering design and detailed engineering for new oil and gas production facilities offshore. (essentially this company is oil and gas consultant).
Post: Graduate Engineer.
My Possible Job Scope: involved in HVAC design.

I like to perform engineering calculation and analyse theories. I am not saying that I will not perform project management, if I am assigned such task. I would prefer to deal with equipment, than to be involved in project management (handling client and contractors, attending meeting).
As for the job offer by TL Offshore Sdn. Bhd., I am told by HR department to collect and sign the Letter of Appointment tomorrow. Thus, I need to make the decision right now.
