QUOTE(eandi @ Apr 24 2012, 11:23 PM) Greenfield = NEW Thank you sir for your reply, one of my friend said that pengerang terminal is the greenfield project, is that true? sorry I have no idea of what he saidBrownfield = Existing Example: When u need to redevelop the field by means of increasing the gas pressure (as u need to maintain the production capacity), then u need to install a new gas turbine compressor..installing this new GTC, means u need an additional module (compression module) to be in place on top of the existing process platform.. So, in this case, all work related to/or inside the new compression modules is consider Greenfield While all work related to or inside the existing platform/process platform is consider Brownfield.. Another example, U want to install air cond in your house, so the air will getting more cool, the air cond unit itselfconsider a greenfield, while all the related pipes, additional sockets, wiring to be installed in your house for the new air cond unit, i is consider brownfield works/activities Just my 2cents knowledge |

QUOTE(noruazumi @ May 21 2012, 10:39 AM) It is hard for me to say whether you should or should not accept the offer. However, 30% is a good figure - provided your "cost" for you to go to work remains the same. At the same time, you need to ask yourself whether the offered position is something that you really want to do now and in the future. If there is no passion, prolly you won't last long in that organization. Job satisfaction vs. monetary reward is always a big factor for everybody. If you think the juice worth the squeeze, then by all means, go for it. True.... Skrang dah jadi trend, budak2 nak keje oil and gas sbb "masyuk.....!"Added on May 21, 2012, 10:54 amAnd to the young future engineers, there is no easy way to get things and it applies to entering O&G as well. It is best for you to assess yourself whether you are up for the challenge especially if you wish to work in offshore environment where you will be at the platform for weeks, working 12 hours a day minimum, having less interaction with people onshore, the risk & hazards and etc. After you do that, then you have to go through list of O&G companies in Malaysia - client, user, operator, main con, sub con and etc. From there, you have to do groundwork to get yourself in one of those organizations. Everybody here did the same thing and you should too. If you can't even spend time to read all the information in this thread and previous threads, I honestly think that you can't be a good engineer in O&G and any other industries. p/s: If you think that being an engineer in O&G industry is lucrative, you have to think again. Only those with niche qualifications, certifications and skills will be rewarded. Others will be about the same with other industries but maybe slightly higher, depending on the organization. |

QUOTE(MEngineer @ May 23 2012, 09:46 AM) This is why O&G operators have such strict recruitment process to stream out people like this. Attitude of "not my problem" shows that the person is not a team player and have no teamwork skills. Working offshore with people like this is a hazard due to ignorance and careless attitude. Main reason why operators have policies like "You See, You Act" not "You See, NOT MY PROBLEM". I got what you mean sir, but please dont judge myself based on this post only, this fella out of nowhere come out with a post that im the most brag and vainglorious person in this thread... "not my problem" and "its your problem" i seldom heard it from my boss, you have to understand the situation, dont just simply accuse me that i have an attitude problem |
