I'm the last person they interview beside a lady from SBM (my junior at college)..

The interview gone well..

Three main questions have been asked as follow:
1) Why you want to join Keppel Shipyard? I'm quite surprised when the interviewer elaborate more with 'why you want to join us, because your company's benefit is better than us'.
However,  Interviewer noted Career Advancement as per my expectation...

2) What is your strength? Interviewer noted 'Well organize' as per expectation..

3) What is your weakness? Interviewer wrote down 'No weakness'.. 

She gave me an opportunity to ask question:
1) Will they conduct 2nd interview, when? Yes, for shortlisted candidate. Within 2-3 weeks.
2) Which Keppel Group of companies are hiring? Keppel Fels and Keppel Shipyard...

She asked justification of my salary.. She accepted my explanation...

Conclusion: standard screening type of interview..

i'm just wondering, people kept talking about the salaries at schlumberger, but how about salaries at other companies like baker, halliburton, weatherford? any idea?

To the experienced, do you read in your field? Where do you go for oil and gas news that covers worldwide developments in the industry?

For instance, electrical engineers have the IEEE that they create, compile and share technical papers (for a price) on their website. Is there an oil and gas equivalent?

What are the differences between a drilling engineer, rig engineer, MWD engineer and GWD engineer, directional driller?

And have anyone here work or have experience with Gyrodata ?

is all drilling company listed in the first page have their base in malaysia?so far i  only know vantage,sapura,umw office at KL

got the news right after it happened from my crew manager. that rig won the hse for last year. (no rig name on the news ehh i bet us in the industry know wch one)

Yes it is a fast track program. I asked the interviewers, their last batch in this program took 4 years to be a driller.

rig crew's are among the highest paid laborers in the world. The highest position would be the driller which you can work your way up from a rough neck or roustabout. I don't know about Malaysia but in NZ the drillers there get about 250K NZD. In low pay sh!t hole Malaysia that is a ticket to a good pay.

C'mon! its 1 month on 1 month off. Get over it! If your friend is in Casing and in Malaysia, he is probably in Weatherford.

so... this BMI thing only affect those working offshore, is it? what about those who don't really need to go offshore? and what is 'temporary/short period OSP'? need to lose weight in those 6 month??

I would like to know how to become a driller? From my research it seems that it start from being a roustabout but whenever i search for jobs i cant find the entry level position its always shows the experienced position.
