QUOTE(alvinkhorfire @ Aug 15 2012, 09:12 AM) Okay, I have read previous pages of this thread. The general consensus I obtain from this thread is that it is much better to work in EPC contractors, than in Oil and Gas consultants, especially in terms of job prospect. Am I right about this? Thanks for your explanation alvinkhorfire Examples are Shell, Petronas, ExxonMobil, Murphy Oil and so on. These companies are operating the ready-to-be-used oil rig to produce oil. However, they do not explore for new oil fields, nor install the rig themselves. These tasks are instead handled by oilfield service companies which are hired by the operators. Btw, does a master degree in geophysics help a lot in getting job in oil and gas industry? Not sure whether want to further my studies or just start working |

QUOTE(klein @ Aug 15 2012, 11:48 AM) Are you sure you have tried hard enough? Try a thorough research on the past 2 topics (version 1 & 2). I know I have come across contact numbers for geophysicist/ geologist etc Sorry Klein, I have yet not do my research on v1 and v2. Btw, v1 and v2 are dated for quite some time alreadyQUOTE(k.mark45 @ Aug 15 2012, 11:54 AM) Is that a good thing or a bad thing?AFAIK, geophysicist works for service company also right? |

Anyone of you heard of GeoEast (M) Sdn Bhd before? I had been invited for the technical test and maybe possible interview for the position of mud logger trainee.

QUOTE(plplpl @ Aug 25 2012, 08:43 AM) Yup, its Geoservices and its dealing with mudlogging services. Anyone working here? By reading previous post, it seems like mudlogger is the worst job in an oil rig..QUOTE(hj.pet @ Aug 25 2012, 11:07 AM) may i know how did u apply for the post? I apply thru Schlumberger official website, I suppose. I think they pass my resume to some other company. from the description of the position posted bg canonpixma, of course it deals with mudlogging services. unfortunately, there is no official website after i googled for it. or did i get it wrong? The address for the test is: Geoeast (M) Sdn Bhd A Schlumberger Company 16th floor, East Wing, Rohas Perkasa, No. 9, Jalan P. Ramlee, 50250, Kuala Lumpur. And they also mentioned, "The position offered is Mud Logging Trainee for one of Schlumberger companies - Geoservices". So, I'm abit confused now |

QUOTE(buncho89 @ Aug 25 2012, 04:58 PM) Geoeast is the name of the sdn bhd company but its actually geoservices, the company under slb. Its a good place to start but if u hv a better job offer out there, dont bother with mudlogging haha. Is mudlogging really that bad? haha! actually im not sure whether I should work or continue my master degree in geophysics. Any advice? |

QUOTE(plplpl @ Aug 26 2012, 09:31 PM) mudlogging pay is no good...unless you are planning to use it as a stepping stone...however mudlogging gives you a chance to learn all the rig operations. So, in your opinion, its better for me to work as mudlogger to gain experience or study my master degree in geophysics? With mudlogging experience, is it easy for me to jump into other department? I dont want to stuck in mudlogging for the rest of my life haha! |
