Is 2012/ 2013 a good year for O&G industry?

you should read this.
also follow-up on business news. and check with friends/networks in the field of the actual situation.

imho, for msia, year 2012/2013 are years which projects are tendered and evaluation will be done. perhaps end 2013 or early 2014 when tender will be awarded. our company with no major tenders since around 2 months ago. only this month onwards some discussion on larger tenders/sales orders with our clients.
you can notice 2012-2013 is a recruitment year where companies are planning for the resources which expected to kick-in 2013/2014. recruitment cycle may take few months to 1 year or even more.
from a friend's source, expecting Q2 2013 they will be requiring more hiring or at this particular timing all their resources are in full gear to stand-by.

if in cameron in fabrication, you are expecting to deal with lot of API 6A, 1104. ASTM A370, A388, E420, E94, E747, E709, E165, E10, etc.
i can't deny fabrication knowledge will be in great help in consultant later stage. and designers makes fabricators' life/ field users (engineers) sometimes miserable with not practical parameters. some are designers without field experience/fresh and this is very headache which we always encountered, not considering the field usage and machines capabilities and existing technology & human skills can achieve or not. we need to call them in to discuss to re-evaluate or modify their design.

Dont worry. Just be yourself and try the best that you can.
Since you are a graduate, the interviewer should not be expecting too much from you.
Most of the time they just want to gauge whether you have the right attitude and willingness to learn and get experience.

And whether you really want to start your career with the company, or just want to get the job as a temporary measure, and jump company once you receive a better offer.

should we call/email(btw wch is more appropriate?call or email) the company we've had an interview with after a few days to check on our status??i know it does show our interest in the job but per say a "busy/big" company, i wonder how would they respond.

or should just wait for it, this basing on how the candidate feels he did in the interview.per say a feel good factor maybe telefon tanya, if so-so leave it to nasib, kalau dapat dapat smile.gif

Better give at least a week or two. Be patient, it takes time to process the interview results and etc. smile.gif

hi all..
any onboard processing geophysicist here?
would you all mind to share your working experience in vessel?
is there any company in msia or oversea looking for fresh grad w.r.t the job position? thank you..
*
Western Geco, CGG Veritas, PGS etc, these are the companies that have vessels and will require on-board processors. No harm sending a cover letter with your CVs to them.

My understanding is that the fees even for visitors is about 800 ringgit which is quite high. But then again, my frien just came back from the Gala Dinner entertained by Sheila Majid so I guess that's where the money went.

My understanding is that fee is to join the conference/short course/field trip. Visitors are free to come to the exhibition for the 2nd day only. See here, at least how I see it. I'll be going tomorrow(today?), hopefully can get in.
