Yes. Money maybe is an important issue. However, I am more concerning on the my final goal.
Maybe it is too earlier to say that. I wan to become design engineer in future.
My plan is to work at site to gain more practical experience, because i think that site experience may directly help u in the design.

Like what GoodyGod said, if you really interested to gain site knowledge and be a design engineer, join vendor/fabricator. Get to know how they fabricate the equipments and the platform surely will help you once you join consulting line such as technip/aker/ranhill.

hello to all respectable seniors and sifus present, haha. I just wanna ask, is the UCSI Petroleum Engineering degree reputation good enough to find employment in the ONG industry, especially among the big key players at present? Is there a good track record of graduates being hired so far from this course? Thank you!

As far as i know, Oil Companies PREFER to hire petroleum eng from UTP/UTM.

U apply Kencana? The benefit Sucks especailly if u working at Lumut Yard + saturday is working, annual leave 12 days, but its a good place for training (on-job Training) for Fresh Grad. U can get Starting salary RM2500 + after confirmed 3 motnhs add RM500. Medical only cover yourself. No additonal allowance, and bonus usually 1 month.
Now waiting for Benefit adjustment (hope so) after merged with Sapura Crest, maybe on Early April. If they not adjust the benefits, then surely a lot of people will resign. Last year almost 100 was resign. Thats why they advertise in Star Jobs.

Come on Sapura Kencana Petroleum, u are now 4th Largest O&G service provider!!

depends on whether you looking for short term gain or long term career..if you're looking at earning loads of $$ at young age then i would suggest that you go for the service companies.

bear in mind though, looking at the job scope of field engineers in service companies which is totally unrelated to what design consultants are doing..most likely the design consultants will not consider you if you decide to quit from services after 2-3 years. Even if they do consider your application, most likely you will have to start from zero (like a fresh grad) and i'm 101% sure that they will not give your last drawn salary at the service comps..in other words, prepare for a serious pay cut.

Hmm. Kencana just called. starting about Rm2.3k fresh grad (im alright being considered fresh grad even though i got working experience in other non oil and gas operation). To add on I'm a first class student in uni and have achieved a number of awards. So is 2.3k below the market rate?

KHL is quite known for not paying high. Maybe things will change after the merge.
