What are the differences between a drilling engineer, rig engineer, MWD engineer and GWD engineer, directional driller?

And have anyone here work or have experience with Gyrodata ?

Rig Engineer
-drilling contractor/company - transocean,seadrill,ensco etc
-involve in rig modifications,rig repairs/upgrades
-provide info to client i.e equipments spec etc
-might be involve in daily operations.


Drilling Eng
-mostly in operating companies,some in service companies
-prepare,plan drilling program..onshore based, also sometime travel to offshore.
-monitor drilling progress from town....advise drilling supervisor if any changes....

Did u applied through tier website or job career fair in ur uni? I have applied in the website but until nw there is no reply.

From Houston at 5 pm EST, 30 minutes long, telephone interview was run success last night, that was the time i’ve been waiting for. Thank God!
These are questions she asked me:
1. Why Baker? Why do you want to work for our company?
2. Name a goal you set and achieved it?
3. Favorite class and why?
4. Who else outside O&G industry have you applied to?
5. Describe a time when you were working in a team of high spirit?
6. Describe a time when you encountered a problem and how did you solved it?
7. What is your plan in BHI for the first year?
8. List of training you have had in university or in previous workplace? and what the beneficial for u in the future.

I feel quite satisfy although she was not asked me about personality question like “Tell me about yourself ” or my favorite question ” Give me one word that summarizes you to be remembered”. other questions are:
1. What skills do you bring to this job?
2. Tell me about time when you were frustrated at work and how did you handle it?
3. How did a previous manager motivate you?
4. if I were a team leader how can I manage my team to target the project objectives and also she ask by using facts n reason how can I recommend my self to other people?
5. They will be ask whether we can provide ourself all the documentation to work outside Malaysia without any sponsorship from them?
6. If u willing to relocate, list of the country that u can work outside Malaysia?
7. Explain a situation when you choose integrity over success
8. Explain a situation when you were introduced to a new culture and how did you overcome it.
9. When you set a goal, how do you reach it?
10. Important decision you made in life about?
11. What was the most difficult situation you have been put in?
12. Your technical skills?
13. Why Field engineering?
14. Tell me about yourself?
15. Give me one word that summarizes you so I’ll remember you.

what do you expect of electrical engineer in oil and gas field.

I think u can choose the time for ur phone interview. They will send an email to u with the schedule. U will follow the EST time format compared to Malaysian time. I heard that some of them are using skype for the phone interview. Go to glassdoor.com to find more about these.

2 years then only can become trainee ar? i got 1 year of exp in an ong mnc consultation/ 3 years still trainee?

hello everyone, my schedule for graduate field engineer interview with baker is at 3.00 pm this friday, however I'm a bit confuse with the arrangement it says that "Please remember that your appointment time listed is in UTC/GMT -4 HOURS." what does it mean? can someone explain this to me

GG.. its not 3 pm Malaysia.. our time is +8 GMT
Last time I scheduled using +8 GMT and she called right on time.

Owhhh.. My phone interview is at 5.30 p.m. on 22 May 2012, follow by face to face interview on 1st June 2012.

The phone interview take about 1.5 hours.. Face to face also take about 1.5 hours..

GMT-4 mean -12 hours different from Malaysia (GMT +8).. Your interview is at 3.00 a.m. on Saturday.. They will call from US is it? good luck..
