I think the correct term in malaysia for offshore and onshore  is upstream and downstream, where offshore is Exploration and Production, and onshore is Refining/processing/retail/etc
*
Oil and Gas can be found offshore and offshore so specifying offshore as upstream is incorrect. Upstream in Oil and Gas industry relates to exploration and production of oil and gas from those fields. Once it leaves the platform via pipeline on to ships or into the gas gathering system then that's where downstream activities starts

Hello everyone, I'll be attending Murphy Oil full day interview at petronas twin towers tomorrow. I'm still in my final year of studies in Civil Engineering...

Do you have any tips or website that you can recommend me to read on further?? and also tips on full -day interview preparation??

Sorry as this is my first full-day "serious" interview, others were only 10 to 20 minutes short interview that I attended in campus. smile.gif I've come this far and I hope I can get through smile.gif.. Thanks in advance!

Even in Malaysia, upstream is not related to offshore or onshore. Upstream / Downstrean is a term that defines the line between activities in the Oil & Gas industry

We have an onshore field called Asam Paya by the way but that is beside the point.

tubular:
there are pup joints, tubing, casing, accessories, subsea equipments with various type of connections API and premium connections.
precision machining, swaging, stress-relief, plating, hydrostatic pressure test, welding, hardbanding, blasting, phosphating, coating, make-up (tong), NDT, etc processes involved in producing the OCTG OCTG.
sizes maybe from 2", 2.3/8", 2.7/8", 3.1/2", 4", 4.1/2", 5", 5.1/2" and maybe up to 48", length may range from R1 (4.88-7.62m), R2 (7.63-10.35m) or R3 (10.36-14.63m), depends on well depth.

there are conductor casing, surface casing, intermediate casing and production casing (liner) in a typical well. drill with mud as cutting fluids in the annulus with the help of drill bit and drill string, then cement with float collar and centralizer. make-up (tong) those casing from few hundred ft to thousands ft. then continue to drill to cement up those casing in sequence. during these processes, the well may face pressure loss, kicks, may require shut-in and kill, or stuck pipe and require fishing tools.

I'm sure Petronas has somethig up its sleeve on this field. The 3D seismic survey (which was a b**** to do in the swampland of Asam Paya) I think has been completed, the FDP for that field should be ready soon and maybe Petronas will give it out to another operator, who knows.

That would be Miri Oilfield. We looked at it before but the risk to the population was high because we cannot account for all the well heads that was drilled previously. Some of the wellheads we are not sure if it was P&A properly and some maybe belakang some outhouse somehere and imagine what would happen heh heh heh .... you don't want to be taking a dump near a wellhead smile.gif
