Hi,i've been following this thread since V1, there are few doubts i would like to seek answer from honorable experienced master/sifus in OnG field,

1. I'm very much into flow assurance (FA). However, most of the companies wanted experienced flow assurance engineer. People i met from Intecsea started with graduate process engineer in RWP before becoming exp FA eng. Any chances i might skip the grad process engineer and get started as graduate FA engineer ?. Currently I'm working in one of the OnG operator (downstream) as process engineer with Chemical Engineering background.

2. Being an FA engineer, i understand that i need to well versed in several FA software such as OLGA, Pipesim, PVTsim and so on. Besides those mentioned software, any specific knowledge/ experience i should know about to become an competent FA engineer? I'm in a consideration to take Master in Petroleum Engineering at UTP. Does that Master paper able to help me to increase value in the future? to become an exp/competent FA engineer?

would appreciate any feedback from lowyat forumners....
*
1. 2 in 1.. Process Engineer + FA eng
2. I'm not sure bout Master degree paper value, but competent in several FA software with certificate will help.. icon_rolleyes.gif

1. My current job is more to the protecting/ maintaining companies assets. it's quite far from process design like what Process Engineer doing in consultant company. My concern is once i make a move to FA (if i'm fortunate enough), i might lost the bargain power in terms of pay grade as those yrs of working exp had nth to do with FA.

2. I can do sth about FA software with cert by attending training courses at my own expenses, but how about well versed in software but no exp in FA jobs ? will that affect my value?

Just received a call from Baker Huges and Aker Solutions..
Short listed for Baker but still waiting reply from Aker (not yet shortlisted, but might be schedule far a interview next week).

Which should i go for?
Project Planner in Aker Solutions or Logistics Supervisor in Baker Huges?

I always want to move to the upstream in Oil and Gas, and I don't mind the pay for now, as long as the job can let me learn more about upstream knowledge.

Can sifu and senior please give me some advice and insights please notworthy.gif

Thank you!

Hye Sifu's,
I want to ask something about the tubular service.
1.This job is usually done in offshore or onshore?
2.Is it appropriate for a career in the future (the value salaries paid)?
3. What company do the work turbular service in Malaysia?

Baker Hughes involve more in the upstream; so logistic supervisor is the good posting to be in. They are the best in drilling services. On rotational you could go around the world just taking care the christmas trees laugh.gif

Aker solution - solution for the whole work; include be on site so n so as what required by them. Include troubleshooting shit n stuffs..design solution; its more like before the work even begin.

its yr call; base decision is you; not us.

Agreed. Logistic surveyor is not really a technical work that involved drilling and development, just need good planning, coordination and decision making.

I think the correct term in malaysia for offshore and onshore is upstream and downstream, where offshore is Exploration and Production, and onshore is Refining/processing/retail/etc

When's your interview?
All the best!

Can you tell what the interview is like?
I'd like to work there one day. Probably in the next 5 years or so.
