I am using this Selcon Photocell sensor(from Japan), but need electrician to install. 10yrs di, still good. Yes, when sky dark, the light will turn on, but ok la, dark need light. hooked onto one of my porch downlight, low power consumed. better with LED, then very low consumption.

Since i'm doing my reno now, i'm planning to install 1-2 timer switch to automatically on my main lights on specific time when i'm away.

I don't need motion/ night sensor.

Any products to recommend and any hacking/ complex wiring is required?

No hacking and complex wiring is required. Just add a timer at your MSB.

Does it mean that the timer will replace the conventional switch and can be on/ off manually or Auto mode?

Not replacing the switch. It is an add on. Put inside your DB.
Yes, it can be on/off manually and automatically.

Bro, do you manage to install the timer you intend to install?

I am renovating my house now and I do feel like install one as you mention.

Please advise the name of the timer.

Thanks.

Hi guys I encounter a problem with my auto timer. Whenever the timer switch on the light it will cause the DB box to trip and hence cut off the main power. previously it didn't happen but now it is happening everytime it turns on. Have you guys encounter this before?

Take out the bulb and switch on again.

If it didn't trip, it is the bulb problem.

If it still trip, change the timer.

previously I have changed it to the new bulb and it trip again when the timer on. Then I off the timer and I switch it on manually then it trip also. could it be the timer causing the trip since I have changed the bulb or could it be the wiring problem?

I don't no.

The only way is to take out the bulb and on the timer.

simple way.. change the light bulb with the WIFI light bulb which can control by phone app and get the timer function there.
