Alessandro Del Piero

- true gentleman on & off the pitch (still no red card in his 20+years carrier), and a pure genius whenever he's in action.
- MU & Real fans acknowledge this when he received the standing ovation at Old Trafford(twice) and Bernabeu

United best academy product apparently

Not sure if you're messing but you are aware that Rooney is not a United academy product, right?

My favourite forever would probably be Steven Gerrard. Such a boss. Born in Liverpool, grew up a Liverpool fan, captains the clucb - everyone little boy's dream.

I like Xabi Alonso and Daniel Agger - just brilliant players. Xabi is so calm and composed. Can never forget that two consecutive goals he scored from his own half for us and of course, alot more attempts for Liverpool and Spain! Agger is just amazing. Killer left foot and a good ball playing defender.

Another one is Lionel Messi. Definitely the best footballer I have ever seen in my life to date.

erm, he won 3 champions league only, the other two were European Cups. Clarence Seedorf did win 4 champions league trophy (ie after 1992/93) to make him the one with most champions league trophy, albeit with 3 different teams.

even if one considers the european cup /ECL as the same, maldini / seedorf still loses out to Real Madrid's Francisco Gento who has 6 european cups to his name smile.gif

Anyway i love maldini too! But seems alot of posters are mostly from the current generation. If one would have seen Maradona played, there would (arguably) be little argument on who is the best tongue.gif Ok la, at least in my view la tongue.gif And i am talking bout qualities on the pitch, not off it - unless you are selecting the "cleanest" and best footballer - in which the likes of giggs, terry, etc would also have to be eliminated:P

But i do believe it is not possible to compare players from different eras - gameplay, mentaility, surrounding, pressure etc are different in different eras.
