I'm 27 this year and has been thinking of getting the ASB loan. Should I max out RM200k? Will this affect my chances of getting personal loan later?I have 2 CC (OCBC Titanium Mastercard and Maybank Petronas Visa). A hire purchase loan for my car.Never miss payment. Please advise.

Solsekuin44,

When dividend already declare to the public, which equal once a year or every time when you top up an amount into ASB funds, make sure the resit and investment books fully updated before leave the counter.

Solsekuin44,

It is not necessarily, only for your own convenient especially for the 3d party such as bank agents, you may choose to update your passbook in future. It only to avoid errors and misinterpretation in case anything went wrong, to show that you had purchase an amount of units, as an evident just like a print receipt when you're buying goods and share, same in real life.

I was informed that there needs to be a will. And the withdrawal cannot be made in cash. It will be transferred into the ASB account of the person(s) named in the will. I am not sure what will happen if the named person is not a Bumiputra and doesn't have an ASB account.

Thank you.. Will ask the officer on next visit to the bank. wink.gif

Quick question: I want to invest in AB through Maybank. I will use salaray dedcution every month.

What if suddenly I need money and want to get some cash from the ASB?

possible? is it very liquid?

No, you can only withdraw the dividend. Not the amount you loan, say 100k. Else, have to stop the loan.

Wait? What loan are you talking about? ASB is savings right? How do i get dividend if its a loan? I should be the one paying interest rate if its loan right?
*
Are you taking up the ASB loan, or saving yoir own money into ASB? There's a difference.

She's bumiputera, funds for "bumi" not always fully subscribed compare chinese so investing via online is much more easier and is not mistaken, she heavily invest in ASB with loans, correct me if i'm wrong.

QUOTE(anz87 @ May 26 2013, 10:38 AM)
hi...how do u get 200k in ASB ? Do u take any ASB loan ?
lets me share my story....
last year i just bought under construction apartment cost rm135K in setia alam,
but facing difficulty  to get a good housing loan (good blr and sum of loan) and
i end up by using personal loan by BSN (interest 3.88 fixed) for 20 years for loan amount 200K,
luckily in eligible for the loan  rclxms.gif
due to the apartment is still under construction i just put 100K in ASB while waiting progress payment ,
the rest of money i do full settlement for car and ptptn...some in fixed deposit,,sspn,, buy dinar, kijang emas,...
and i already got around 1k of dividend from ASB (i just put the money on October onward),
and every 3 months enjoy the dividend from fixed deposit..
if your government servant i advise u to take the personal loan from bank rakyat or bsn...

How much you paid monthly for this loan?
I saved up rm1500 monthly, if I continue this way for 10 years, I'll get my first rm230k, with the dividends untouched.

Should I take up the loan? It will affect my chances to get the housing loan eh?

Thank you lucifah for the comparison.

On the bolded statement, the calculation proves that the loan is relatively more profitable within 25 years.

1 - The PROS of this method (not applying for RM 30k loan) are I will not have problem with applying for future loan for car and house, yes? Do I have any other major PRO with this method?

2 - The CONS is since my starting capital is low, hence my dividen will be not as much as with the help of RM 30,000 loan. Apart from this sole point, do I have any other major CONS with this method?
EDIT : typo.
*
If you take the loan, the money is not credited into your account. You'll get a certificate (sijil asb) of rm30k. But the bank keeps it.

What you have is your asb book. Where you can update the amount of dividends gained early of each year. You can use the dividends, not the principal amount, rm30k.

QUOTE(abhipraaya @ Jul 5 2013, 10:36 AM)
I have the personal opinion that:
Having a racial quota system is fine as it gives ALL races the chance to invest.
- If there is no racial quota system, all the units will be 'sapu'ed by any economically well off community within matter of hours/days and deprive others (who are equally keen, but simply need the time (to come up with the cash) to invest.
- Everyone wants a piece of the economic cake, just that some communities need to have the hard cash available to buy these units. Eg. The indian quota was only recently filled up second quarter of 2012, it shows that they are very keen to invest, but they only needed a bit more longer time. If there was no racial quota, the indians would be deprived from investing.

Perhaps,PNB may open up to everyone (after a reasonable number of years) when a particular racial quota has not been filled up after a very long time.

I think that AS1M holds to the 1 Malaysia spirit.

Just my opinion! smile.gif

Innalillah.. Doakan mereka yang baik².
Regarding your ASB, I did the same too before raya. A week before raya, went to the post office. Some are taking out their funds.
I was the only one who put in the money for that day.

Yes, have to sacrifice a bit even though it's raya time.
I am aiming to get my 1st 100k in 5-6 yrs smile.gif Insyaallah.
