i dont know about housing loan but in hp loan, asb loan that is > 1 year would be excluded in the commitment calculation

Maybe the father is non bumi or foreigner & mother bumi sabah/sarawak? Maybe that's the problem. If not mistaken, in those state constitution, father need to be bumi, then only children considered bumi. Other way around not consider bumi status children.  Sometimes peninsular Malaysia people get confuse over it thus asking court order / swear - up.

Regarding your ASB, I did the same too before raya. A week before raya, went to the post office. Some are taking out their funds.
I was the only one who put in the money for that day.

Agreed. As long as one can get the advertised rates than the margins are good, for now. But many are taking awesomingly long, long tenures when movement in the OPR is expected while the equity markets have YET to price it in (as compared to US).

I'm a fan of the ASB loan so long as one is a good paymaster. For those who aren't disciplined enough, it's the only way. I'm not however a fan of ASB loan tenures exceeding 3 years currently (based on current 'climate').

My (poor) reading on the Malaysian economic fundamentals does point to an increase of OPR in the near future. If one is confident that the margins will still be good enough for you to enter into a long loan tenure, carry on

historical dividend on 97/98 can't be obtained excluding ASN, ASB ( earlier existence )... ASB drop .5, however ASN increase 1.0 after 98...
