From my understand most of the bank would ignore the ASB as a monthly commitment as they knows that the dividend incomes is enough to cover it. Banks pay more attention to mortgage/ credit card/ personal loan commitment.

QUOTE(davinz18 @ Aug 6 2013, 03:50 PM) Maybe the father is non bumi or foreigner & mother bumi sabah/sarawak? Maybe that's the problem. If not mistaken, in those state constitution, father need to be bumi, then only children considered bumi. Other way around not consider bumi status children. Sometimes peninsular Malaysia people get confuse over it thus asking court order / swear - up. Only in BolehLand In Sabah and peninsular, as long as one of the parents is native/ bumi, then the kids could become a native/bumi. For Sarawak both parents must be bumi.

QUOTE(lucifah @ Aug 6 2013, 05:17 PM) I know in the constitution 161a, indicating that in Sarawak, either 1 parents is native then the kids will be native also. But some institution like UiTM has different definition.

QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Aug 12 2013, 11:37 PM) Innalillah.. Doakan mereka yang baik². Regarding your ASB, I did the same too before raya. A week before raya, went to the post office. Some are taking out their funds. I was the only one who put in the money for that day. Yes, have to sacrifice a bit even though it's raya time. I am aiming to get my 1st 100k in 5-6 yrs Insyaallah. Some treated ASB as saving account instead of a long term investment. If those eligible to invest in ASB follow the max up ASB account strategy (by loan or by cash) can easily become a millionaire in 15 years time.

QUOTE(lucifah @ Aug 14 2013, 11:47 AM) Apparently, if you married a bumiputra, and convert to Islam, you are entitled to ASB too Funny isn't it. If u marry a non Muslim bumi u can't eligible to invest in ASB, but if u marry a Muslim Bumi then different story. Out of topic a little.

QUOTE(hyelbaine @ Aug 19 2013, 10:13 AM) Hhhmm... I'm no expert but I'll .... Back to your historical BLR, we also need to take in the spread as cost of funding. Back in year 2000, ASB loan is BLR+0.25%, so the gap in between the ASB return is 2.75%, for 2012, ASB loan is blr-1.65%, so the gap between return and funding is also around 2.75%. So ASB loan is still doable leverage in the current lowest -1.65% spread.

QUOTE(hyelbaine @ Aug 19 2013, 10:45 AM) Agreed. As long as one can get the advertised rates than the margins are good, for now. But many are taking awesomingly long, long tenures when movement in the OPR is expected while the equity markets have YET to price it in (as compared to US). I'm a fan of the ASB loan so long as one is a good paymaster. For those who aren't disciplined enough, it's the only way. I'm not however a fan of ASB loan tenures exceeding 3 years currently (based on current 'climate'). My (poor) reading on the Malaysian economic fundamentals does point to an increase of OPR in the near future. If one is confident that the margins will still be good enough for you to enter into a long loan tenure, carry on ASB loan usually lock in 3 years. Anytime if not worthwhile to continue with ASB loan, can just terminate it.

QUOTE(wil-i-am @ Aug 21 2013, 04:42 PM) Xtract from ASNB website Saiz Tabung ASW2020 : 17.945 bilion unit. The above unit differs from 16.615 bil unit as per latest Master Prospectus Fund size increased exactly by 8%, but I don't think aSW will declare all 8%, due to: 1) the initial 16.615 bil approved fund size, there are some unsold units hold by fund manager as buffer. 2) unsold bumi units. ( from time to time bumi units are avail for this fund)

QUOTE(wil-i-am @ Aug 23 2013, 10:59 AM) Agreed Anyway lets hope they declare 7.16% (additional 0.56% as compared to 6.60% in Yr 2012) to coincide with d 56th Merdeka celebration Or they just announce 5.6% pa return. The rest carry forward to the following years. The chairman's favorite words: "we in fact made an 8% gain but due to the xxx we will bring forward the x% of divided to the next financial year....", same script over the years, just copy and paste by just changing the year. Just kidding ok...
