Are those really important? Actually i'm having problem with my 1.5ft tank, it has the brown thing that building up at all 4 sides of the aquarium... looks like algae to me but my SAE doesn't seems to eat it at all..and does those 5 elements help bonding up the mineral at the substrate rather than spreading around the aquarium?
(put 1 inch thick of ADA soil to the aquarium that's all...and not sure why the brown like algae keep building up after 1 week..)

Using hydrogen peroxide , great on normal algae.. but several tries on heavy infested one..
