if this is how u put ur fan, then i can assume the water evaporates alot everyday?
*
and also it seems so unsecured to just put the fan on top of 2 sticks there. just in case any1 knoced it down... u doing rescaping again... lol

confirm wont drop in to it, i been use it more than 4 years , for me safety is NUM 1
*
thanks for sharing ur method tho... i will try to do sth similar to what u do but in a improved version... will try to nail/glue the fan to the 2 sticks and put on top of tank and see what happens... but as for everyday need top up alot of water, arent you worried? dont know whats ur case but for me my tap water have high PH swings... or do u just use mineral water everytime?

malformed : usually AC got a range. 220v to 240v is ok to use.

lighting up at night will not be advisable coz ur plants only photosynthesis during day time... night time, they use up the oxygen in ur tank....

having said that, i wonder how plants tell time of the day... hmmm
*
never really knew that... shocking.gif
does it mean if i on my light for 8 hours starting 12am-8am they still wont photosyntesis?

I read the comments above and deduced this:
Water evaporation = cooled tank ?
But don't you guys feel like it's very troublesome to top up the evaporated water every day, especially if the water loss is 2 - 5 litres per day?

In one week it would be 14 - 35 L water used up. @_@
Is there a method to prevent water loss while using the fan? (On extremely hot days, I drop a block of ice into my 3ft tank to cool my fish down. Trying to find a different method.)
*
there is a way to prevent less evaporation but still using the fan. u need to set up ur fan in such a way that the fan is blowing at 45 degree angle on ur tank. if direct blowing on top of ur tank then water evaporation rate is very high...

I guess the least troublesome method would be to use a chiller. But then again, chillers don't come cheap.

I thought of something like this:

Water evaporates, condenses, flows back into the tank. Like a rain cycle. Could it work?
*
green house effect bro... hahaha

re-scape = more business for LFS and sellers (points to weijie)... *cabutz*

but i second opinions of weijie about the nutrient reduction from the ADA soil overtime. you might be able to extend the life of the soil by adding multi or iron capsules. there are sellers in this forum (points to weijie) that gives u good service n pricing too.
