i just noticed that my rcs only tank got a lot of planaria and fast moving white insect (<1mm size).

how to get rid of them? I do not want to put No-Planaria. Can I put in 10 neon tetra or guppy to eat them?

no wonder my tank now got no snail... now only know they were cleared by planaria. Next planaria food will be my rcs, right?

Hey guys. I have a small planted aquarium which i have been keeping for almost two years now. As its kinda small, I keep only 8 neon tetras and 4 guppies. The tank is about 30cmx20x25(aprox). Lately, I've been having a snail infestation. Its still in the beginning stages lah. Not too bad yet. Any tips on removing them? I don't wanna go for loaches or puffers as my tank is too small.

snail trap is the way, attach boiled timun with string and put it in the tank,
when they are busy eating it, pull the string and manually pick up the snail and redo the steps again

manually picked the up using tweezers

or using those assassin snails..help those poor sods by buying them in Midvalley~

will the boiled timun stink up the water? because i rarely change the water. only 30% change once a month..

And if i buy assasins, wont they die when no more snails left?

they wont unless u just left it there to rot. usually, switch to new ones after 1-2 days

the assassin snail will take other type of food like pellets..thats what ive been told before. if they run out of snails and they eat very slowly too,
so not a full proof way to eradicate snail problems but its a good snail control population method

my tank is 15 " x 8 " . for now i only will keep my betta in. after my betta would be neon tetra or maybe shrimp
i referred back to the v7 1st post. how much i need for a diy co2 set for a tank size like mine
*
since your tank is small and you have betta only...
used seachen flourish excel...
cheaper compare to diy co2 system...
with diy co2 you need to buy/used a lot of thing to make it work...
a 2L cocacola bottle will last you like 3 month max...
but 500ml excel(rm45) will last you like 500 days (1ml/day)...

by the way... you only need to dose 5ml/50gal daily...

if your tank is...15"x8"x8"... likely to be 3.5gal...

if your tank is...15"x15"x8"... likely to be 7gal...

you do the math...

cant see the cladophora pic/clip bro~

btw, its been a week since im testing my marimo carpet mound... its starting to look weird..will post it soon

btw ZeneticX,
if ure plants are low to medium lighting, then it would suffice i guess..since ure tank is not that high and they require low lights..
but if ure plants are hungry photo-feeders.. you need to consult with the lighting sifus here brows.gif

dun buy amazonia normal... cause amazonia new 3L pack only max rm40.00... the difference only max RM5.00
3L pack can cover 12"x12" of 1" front and 2" back... you dun need white sand too... I got mine for only RM38.00

if low tech low light plants only need 1-2w/gal...

if high tech high light plants needs 3-5w/gal...

remember the more watt you have...the more heat you generate...

Added on March 26, 2012, 5:41 pmany 1 out there dun any experiment on lighting temp...

4000k vs 6000k...

as warmer light promote flower blooming...

cooler lighting promote growth...

most aquarium lighting are cool daylight (6000k)

I found out that algae like 4000k-ish lighting... they bloom

that's why algae only grows on the sunset side of rocks...
