Hey all. I've been hearing some news about how parking summons in Malaysia don't affect whether you're able to renew your roadtax or not?

Is this true? Is there a source I can check this out with?

well i dont know if it affects it or not, but i got a summon once in 2010 for illegal parking. then i forgot to pay, and it somehow ended up in the list of summons accumulated by my car (alongside speeding, langgar lampu merah etc). so...

it will end up tagged to ur car under traffic summons;
and if u dont clear ur traffic summons, u cant renew ur roadtax;
hence i believe if u dont pay the parking summons, u probably wont be able to renew it.

Really?! Man that has me worried. What if u have parking violations in different states? How does that affect it? Could u provide me a good source for information?

You can try email various states and ask the officials there what will they plan to do to you if you refuse to pay.

summons i think must pay.. but durin in sabah i did not pay their parking tickets.. lolz..

Usually if parking summon by local council..i also bo layan la.
But if traffic police or JPJ..definitely nid to pay up or road tax kenot renew

Ya see....that's my issue. I have a friend that says local summons are used as paper for when you check your engine oil.

if summon from pdrm / jpj if u dun pay u kenot renew road tax.
pulis see u drive car no road tax then they give u more summons.

if summon from dbkl / mbpj / mpsj etc if u dun pay they might send you a red colored letter threatening you to appear before court if you continue to not pay the summons

my summon was in skudai (johor). my car was registered to my home address in shah alam. it's the same.

With MPS, if you wait long enough, eventually they send you an offer, 50% off if you pay before .....

OTOH, I had a friend who collected lots of parking summons from MPS. Never paid a single one. After about 10 pieces or so, they finally came and put a clamp on her front right wheel. Then have to pay ...

PS: they didn't come specifically just for her. We know this because when she looked down the road, there were quite a few other cars with the big yellow wheel clamp.

local council parking summons are not linked to jpj (which renews road tax) .... yes you can get lots of red letters from councils but right up to this point, they have not been able to come to terms on how to go about enforcing this ..

i have stacks of these council summons.

an article also appeared in the star some time ago that in fact many places some parking zones were not properly gazetted and in actual fact local councils had no right to issue summons ...

i am NOT saying you should not pay ... be a good citizen ...

so far i know MPPJ, DBKL and MPSJ have the right to tow your car away due to outstanding summon issued by them

these 3 places have their law gazetted hence they have the power to do so

other place not sure

the authorities really no common sense one. discount should be offered to those who pay early and not offered to those who pay late. really stoopid. punish those who pay promptly and reward those who pay late.

jpj/polis = renew roadtax headache but they'll let u take for 6 months(experience)

Majlis perbandaran = no need to pay, till ur car(touchwood) gets towed, cuz u gotta pay all to clear.(no money means hw?? :s)

tow truck fella so good, tow my car n bring me(tumpang) to the depot summore, no need to go report polis for stolen car n no need to pay for cab.. but pay summon!!)

my dad whenever he get ticket he just scrunched it up and throw in the bin..making my mom an extremely unhappy woman!

dbkl = ignore
jpj/ trafik = must pay

Not exactly on topic but related to parking.

1) fine for not displaying ticket = rm100, fine for displayed invalid ticket = rm30. so, display some old tickets if you don't intend to pay

2) illegal parking on yellow line / double parking will not get summons from the people checking parking tickets simply because you are not in a parking box

Somebody said to me that a valid saman is the saman that you need to sign on it. So most of the parking saman you can ignore lah. You can say you never received the saman (mana ada kena saman, kertas saman sudah ditiup angin etc )

huhuhu i just got surat saman sent to my home from MpSepang, 1k tu.. huhu.. it already long time ago, during May.. i think thre is no prob with the road tax renewal but do they really gonna take us to court.. i got more than one saman, huhu totally ridicilous..

I have one bag of mp klang parking summon...and wont pay a single cent coz my boss said summon have to send to us personally not by post in a car..furthermore they have to prove that we park without paying..not easy though!!

JPJ officer told me... if summon issued by traffic cops, MUST pay. If by local council, throw away because the summon money goes to state government instead of federal government.

I received 1K summon letter too last week from MPSepang.
I will ignore, it's ridiculous.
Meanwhile if your car gets towed, it cost only RM.300
This MPSepang is out of mind.

If they drag me to the court, i'll engage the media.
Out of no reason they put 1K summon.

today i kena 1 summon RM100 from DBKL, after reading all the comments here, i have become indecision whether want to pay or not.

if only these enforment agencies could work this hard to combat crime.

keep on dreaming, they will bill you no matter what. someone i knew billed with ....... roadtax renewal no idea as never happen to me. but the parking summon must pay & must keep the parking ticket payment as the can claim we never pay yet.

yes its true as of early this year.

i always kena traffic police saman for illegal parking. all u need to do is go renew your roadtax at JPJ itself.

u cant renew at post office.

Just checked summons thru MYEG and I have one stating not wearing seat-belt .. Can I ignore it? Summon date is 31 of Aug 2013.
