Hi guys...

I just get my streamyx after 3 years of waiting. I believe they upgrade the DSLAM to ADSL2 because currently my house located 5.3KM from the DSLAM. I subscribe 512 package RM66 and I choose self-installation.

I'm using Aztech DSL 3100R (4 Port Router + Modem) which I purchase last week. After pluggin the modem and power on, I saw my data rate as follows:

Download Data Rate: 8128kbps
Upload Data Rate: 864kbps

TMNET Speedometer shows my connection are 512 up and down. Is this what we called as miscapped? Please give a comment.

This is the snapshot of my router configuration page and TMNET Speedometer

I believe that my housing area telephone line is not in good condition. The copper cable i think almost 10 years already. Izzit my location more than 5 KM will affect the SNR Margin?

it's not ADSL2 for sure. ADSL2 requires ADSL2 capable modem and Aztech 3100R is not one them. furthermore, ADSL2 max download rate is 12mbps and 8mbps is just normal ADSL max speed.. but i do agree that their new DSLAM is ADSL2/2+ capable but they are not implementing the new standard yet. now tmnet already upgrade their system and they cap the speed per user a/c and no more on port.. so no matter what's your modem says, your true speed is on which package you subscribe..

my office is 5.4km from the exchange and been using streamyx for the past 2 and a half years.. maybe your place got no free port that's why you have to wait long.
*
I don't know about that because when I apply that time, the agent said that my area have port and my house just 5.3 KM to the exchange and its not possible for me to get the service. I just found out that they are implementing ADSL2 when I followed my fren to CLICKERS a month ago. That time I tried to ask for my application status and the agent said that my area now their implementing ADSL2 and I can get the service sooner.

I also not sure about implementation of ADSL2 here if it correct or they just add another port for me but anyway I happy that finally I get this service at my house after long waiting.....smile.gif

I am afraid you are not getting the speed you paid for.

Acceptable speed for a 512kbps package must at least be about 70% i.e around 360kbps and above.

From your test, you are only getting half of what you paid for i.e 267kbps (DS)
*
Some time i can get 350 kbps ++ sometime lower than that...hard to say actually coz i suspect my phone line a little bit old... anyway even i get around 267kbps but when i download such as using bitcomet, my total download are around 50 - 62 kbps.

Cheers.... smile.gif

they might have installed remote terminal near ur place. check for a big box with R0XX

I also thinking like that because i saw few month back TM adding few new boxes that look like exchange box near my house. May be that is the remote terminal.

If got time i go check if stated "R0XX" or not

I found out that the Remote DSLAM they put quite near to the road...
hopefully no car will go bang it lor or else... sweat.gif sweat.gif

I make complaint to the streamyx regarding my SNR Margin quite low few days ago but it seems the same. I think later today i gonna make call again to the TM Net CIC. Hopefully they can rectify this problem lor.

You know what, my area's DSLAM(not sure if it is remote) is located very near(1 ft) at the roadside which have 90 degree corner. One drunk fella can just bang straight into it.

Why they put such expensive thing to the place that easy to be bang by car?

last few months before they put the DSLAM got 1 car hit my house Exchange....Few days no telephone. Than after they repair they put together the DSLAM/RDSLAM there. May be that the way how they expand the streamyx coverage...hahaha

For low SNR margin, you shouldn't call TMNet. You should call TM (100) to check/change the telephone line.

OIC, that case i will call TM then, thanks for the info dude.
