It depends on what kind of dog you're looking for. A normal mongrel pup or dog is always cheaper, can be anywhere from rm60 to rm100.... a mixbreed would be more, a pure breed would be more than a mixbreed.

I was at the SPCA weeks ago... someone was adopting a puppy then, I heard the SPCA people told the potential adopter that it will cost RM200... so I guess it really depends on the particular dog you wanna adopt.

Ohhh... lol, well, not everyone sees the need to volunteer. Actually, they do need. So pitiful, the pups want attention and a change of newspapers. Some dogs need bathing....

Good that your school club volunteered! Needs more volunteers there.

My puppies are normal mongrels. Hope you won't mind that. I'm actually from Kuantan but I'm thinking of bringing them down to KL to take them to the SPCA for adoption since there's no proper animal shelter here.

I've posted some pics of my puppies on my blog at http://lifeofakuantanboy.blogspot.com.

Check them out and let me know if you are still interested, then maybe we can meet up somewhere.

I just called up the SPCA..they told me that not to bring my puppies in yet since they're only 1month old because then they'll put them to sleep immediately.
They told me to wait till they're at least 2 months old so I won't be brining the puppies up to KL just yet.

its depends on your luck and timing....if you are lucky, there will be pure breed dogs up for adoption (unwanted dogs given up by new owners). The price you have to pay for adoption is surely cheaper compared to home breeders...after all, you are helping a noble cause...to feed and keep the animals in the animal shelter alive!!

If you send to SPCA, means death sentence for your cat. I will suggest you to rehome yourself, the chance is very mere & can say almost no chance at all if u send to SPCA. Unless your cat is special breeds then the chance is SLIGHTLY higher, but since SPCA shelter is always full, bringing in another cat means sacrificing another in there. Do reconsider. And yes, a surrendering fee will be charged, no guarantee of adoption though, and your cat will being put to sleep if nobody adopt.

PLease call PAWS 03 - 7846 1087

Their website is down so it would be hard for anyone to get a map now. Just call and get the directions. It's along the old Subang airport road.

i went to SPCA KL two days ago... i got the shock of my life before because it was so shocking that there are a lot of dogs being abandoned there and the condition there is horrible.. i think because they lack of fund that's why...
but there's one worker there who's very very friendly and she's a foreigner...

hope you guys support SPCA because the condition is really heart sick when you see it yourself...

Oh.... so you are gonna get a dog to watch the house? Well, you would need a dog that could bark.... pincher can but then they are small.... erm, it will most likely get stolen or something.... how bout mongrel? You can find small mongrels, they got short coat and are easy to care. Also they got a better bark.

Do go to SPCA and look around.... purebreeds normally they charge a high price while mongrel pups can be from RM50 onwards I think, I'm not so familiar with the pricing....

It is an animal shelter.... SPCA is more like animal shelter and also does cruelty and abuse cases too.... PAWS is also a non-government organization, also doing this by donations from members. Their facility is smaller and publicity is also less....

Oh SPCA... I used to frequent there with my friend to help out with the cleaning and feeding of the dogs over there. It was such an experience and it sure was fun to play around with the dogs and pups at SPCA. I know the management had changed multiple hands by now but I still wonder if they are still organizing jumbo sales? I participated in it once and it was cool.

guys, just wondering, my housing area got a female dog, recently just gave birth, about 12 puppies... doh.gif there is few of them already adopted by the family in the neighborhood here in Sungai Petani, but the problem is, now still got 9 puppies left!

I am not sure whether you guys know or not as Sungai Petani's Majlis Perbandaran is the most cruel one... vmad.gif last time my dog was accidentally caught by them, and got tortured badly in the cage... therefore, it is better to "migrate" all the 9 puppies here to SPCA or anyone who able to keep them, or else, I am worried if some of the neighbors here who dislike dogs, will complaint to the council... then I believe that's gonna be end of life of those puppies... later on I will snap some photos and post it here... please let me know where is the right place to post this and get helps/advices, tell me if I should not post it here as I have no idea where to do so already...

So kind of you to care about them, you should post it under pet for adoption section, also you can google more pet forum to increase the chance.

Sending to SPCA means death sentence, so best if you able to find a good home for them yourself.

Goodluck!

That's why, sending to SPCA means death sentence, as they have a "due date" for the dog to stay. If you think that nobody gonna adopt a stray, then sending to SPCA not gonna help either.

'Due' date? Means they will put the dog to sleep if no adopter? I thought it is SPCA objective to prevent things like this from happening to dogs?

Dear All,

SPCA is desperately seeking the help of compassionate hearts and hopefully loving homes too. Anyone who is willing to give some love and spare some space - we need your help and these puppies need it more.

In the recent 2 weeks, we have been receiving floods of puppies and they will not make it on their own. We currently have 10 very young, very adorable but lonely puppies who need a chance at life. These darlings are from two different batches - both rescued from monsoon drains where they were left to drown.

We need the help of fosterers and adopters - urgently. All males and females are aged approximately 6 weeks with various characters and personalities. Please help us save these youthful lives, we ask you to come and look into their eyes and realize the meaning of happiness through life.

Please give them a chance. Help us today. Spread the word, help us show these puppies that it is better to have a family than have no family at all.

If you or someone you know is interested in saving these puppies' lives today, please email spca@streamyx.com or call us directly at 03-42565312 or 03-42535179. PLEASE HELP!

I've downloaded the form, filled it up and sent to them (by POS). It will takes about a month for them to process i think. Then they'll send you email if there's any activities that required volunteers, you can then register yourself as volunteer through the email address provided. smile.gif

i wish to b a volunteer as well.. but, may i know which address.. i hav to send.. there are some many addreess.... n one more question.. if spca call me up to b volunteer, n on the same time i m vr busy wif smt(such as exam week), can i reject to b the volunteer on that day.. n continue on the next event? or i will b kick out by SPCA...

n ya.. one more... if i m the volunteer.. can i choose the job i m doing... i means i can do every thing.. clean the pee n poo, n feed them.. help them bath.. or wat ever .. but i juz dun wan to b the one to put them into sleep.. coz i dun ever kill a mosquito n ant.. can i reject them if they call me to so..

Note: i do kill mealworms.. not kill lah.. juz throw into the feeding dish for my glider... coz they nid it.. if they dun nid worms.. i rather giv them bcome vegetarian..

Well yeah, you sure can do.
All you need to do is bring the kitten there.
And SPCA will put the kitten to "sleep" for you.
In addition, you just need to donate a little or more amount to SPCA.

My current dog was adopted from the SPCA. Best dog in the world tongue.gif

I'm looking for a second one, since mine is getting old. Is there anylisting of SPCA dog for adoption? The SPCA site seems to have only a few. I'm sure there are lots more that aren't documented, based on my last visit there earlier this year

Not sure about SPCA, but I'm a volunteer at the PAWS shelter (because it's closer to my home in Subang) and they more than welcome volunteers, so long as you call before to give them a heads up that you're coming.

No requirements, as far as I know. I started volunteering with a couple of friends when I was 16, so there was a parental permission form I had to fill before I could start. I had absolutely no experience with pets at all but they had a senior volunteer show me around and you'll learn quick enough. Good idea to read their volunteer page before going.

It's really easy, and a lot of fun if you love animals (I do!). I started off with puppies, mostly helping with feeding, bathing and playing with them. Nowadays I work more with the juvenile and adult dogs - taking them out for a run and bathing them. The more often you go, the more familiar you'll be with individual animals as well as the adoption process, so you might help out with visitors looking to adopt (helping them find the right one, giving advice on care...). You could work with cats as well, playing with them or giving them a brush.

Don't think about volunteering - do it biggrin.gif No regrets nod.gif

I'm here wanna ask.... anybody who know....

If you ever watch... APL (Animal Planet)... in US SPCA... if people go and report about animal abusing' they will.... as fast as posibble go and investigate the reports.
And if the report is tru and got evident... they will summon and put the fellow in jail.

So we here in Malaysia... Do our SPCA do this...??? hmm.gif hmm.gif

Well, you can report them as abusing the dog as once they taken the responsible to get a dog, they are supposed to take good care of it.

Taking good care doesnt mean they have to groom it nicely, feed it most expensive food or let them stay in a castle. As long as the dog is taken good care, at least clean and fed well, its good enough.

Alot of owners put their dogs at their porch but they still take good care of the dog.

You can inform them to start taking good care of the dog before you report them. Your neighbor deserve a chance as well. Maybe they have a reason for that. Try talking to them and if it still doesnt work, report them. Its for the dogs benefit.

Well, dun steal the dog, else you are at fault. Its good that you have a good heart. Malaysia needs more of this kind of people. All the best for the dog. Do keep us updated on the dog ya..

I just like to ask how do i report dog abuse cases ? What kind of evidence that you need.

I just came home from dinner with my relatives. When i was walking into the house, i heard a dog cry. When i peep into my neighbour's house , i saw their dogs are fighting among themselves and one of them had hold the other one on the neck with it's jaw. I was worried and went to my neighbour's house and call them out but none of them even bother to come out . They just sit there and gamble.I keep on shouting and press their door bell but none even bother to come out. Then i peep again and the dog was already dead. Bugger i was damn furious wanted to throw stones into their house just to get their attention to come out and see what has happen. Want to have dogs as a pet please la , take care of them. Tomorrow morning sure screw them kao kao.

I really want to know what does SPCA do? I called them up in regards to a dog who is not taken care of properly. The first question they asked is "Is he/she a mongrel?" Wow. I didn't know SPCA are "racist" as well. Great way to educate people.

i'm just assuming based on ur posting... "dognapped" and "my" dog... is the dog a stray dog that's been hanging out under the car outside ur house?

the dog could be probably caught by the local council, check at the pounds depending on ur locality... DON'T DELAY UR SEARCH, the pounds do not keep dogs that are caught for long...

I don't think Klinik Kembiri neuter stray dogs and cats. The idea is you got to pay SPCA to neuter your dog/cat. Klinik Kembiri which is located at the DBKL Pound does not neuter stray animals. Why would they? The dogs there will not live long anyway. Ask SPCA why.

Bear in mind when you take your pets to Klinik Kembiri, the doctors won't check whether your pet is SUITABLE for surgery. Owners might not know that their pets are not well internally but still send them for surgery. As a result, they might die on the surgery table. So I always recommend, if you genuinely love your pets, you need to take it to a reputable Veterinary and check your pets before doing ANY surgery. (Before you, yourself, go for a surgery, your doctor need to check your blood pressure, etc right? Same thing for pets.)

depends on the dog your planning to adopt, grown up mongrel is RM200+-, puppy is RM250 - 300, Pure breed puppy is RM500 - 700 and pure breed grown up range from RM150 - 250.

I saw a king spaniel there , 4 months old puppy, RM500 >_< no money, if not i will adopt. Im a volunter there.

Hi,

Well, I'm not sure where to post this. I'm not a dog-knowning person of what type of dogs or puppies (meaning almost eilek knowledge).

SPCA may want to check on around in Subang Parade open carpark at Parkson as I seen a lot of times, the owners left their dogs in the car without opening the window for the dogs to breath and most recent is yesterday evening, the owner of a vios (black color) license plate WRH 4616 left their dog inside the car sitting on the driver seat and quite inhumane to do so.

Is this fair?

Two weks ago we were invited by some students from KDU to participate in their Rave2Save event. They were organising fund raising and pledged to hand it over that establlished animal shelter in Ampang. We never asked them for any money - as all we wanted was a venue for an impromptu adoption drive. We were happy when the students asked us to bring the 50 over pups that we have rescued from the streets to be put up for adoption. However, the student in charge called today saying that the big organisation does not want us there because 'we give our dogs and puppies up for adoption for free while they charge for adoptions.' They also pressured the students to keep us us out and so so we have been told not to come. So, pray give us your feedback - is this a case of personal egos geeting in the way of helping the strays? The same thing happened when Furry Friends Farm started rescuing dogs from Pulau Ketam - nasty things were published about the sanctuary in the media by those affliated to the organisation. Is this fair? All we want is a venue where these unfortunate puppies can be put-up for adoption. Why deny us that? Why deny the poor strays a chance to secure homes? We want to hear from you - please tell us what you think.

Wondering, does one need to pay to adopt cats from SPCA ?
Or is it free of charge ?

ANd the other thing is, can we just go there and select our cat of choice, or we will be given cats based on, say, queue, or depends on the SPCA ?

I'm not really sure aput the charges .I dont think it is expensive, just like paying a small portion as a token / donation.

But as far as i know, you are free to select whoever that u like as they would want to see as mucha animal getting adopted

Pls go ahead and adopt, lots of them longing for a warm n loving homeowner...

About SPCA Seberang Perai, Penang

The SPCA Seberang Perai is a society registered in September 2005 and it was formed by a group of animal lovers with the cooperation of the MPSP and are affiliated to the LA 21 (Local Action 21) program.

The primary aim is to reduce the population of stray animals or possibly a zero stray population in a humane manner. With lesser strays or no strays at all, the loving value of animals will be greatly increased and you can be sure that humans will shower more love for their pets and be responsible pet owners. The problem should not only be shouldered by the Society as the public must also understand the urgent need to control the pet population and give their whole-hearted support to all projects for the undertaking to be successful. Then SPCA Seberang Perai will achieve a clean and hygienic environment for the community. As a no killing organization, they are embarking on a two-prong approach towards the problem i.e public education and sterilization of the stray animals.

At the moment, the shelter is located at 162, Jalan Kg Besar, Berapit, 14000 Bukit Mertajam catering to more than 100 dogs and cats.

For more information, please visit their site at: http://www.spca-sbgperai.org.my

We went for a visit to SPCA Seberang Perai on 29 November 2009 (Sunday). As a no-kill shelter, they are currently housing hundreds over dogs and cats. The shelter is located at 162 Jalan Kampung Besar, Berapit, 14000 Bukit Mertajam and is open to public every Sunday from 3.30-6.00pm.

As from what we have observed, SPCA Seberang Perai is lack of publicity which causes them to have shortages in volunteers as well as funds/supplies.

We would like to appeal to the public to help SPCA Seberang Perai in any of the following ways:-

1. Adopt a pet from SPCA Seberang Perai.
2. Introduce adopters to adopt puppies/dogs/cats from SPCA Seberang Perai.
3. Donation of dog food (dry or can).
4. Donation of dog shampoo.
5. Donation of rice.
6. Donation in terms of cash.
7. Become a volunteer of the society.

If you wish to just donate for the cause of the society, here are the banking details:-

Account Name: SPCA Seberang Perai
Bank: Public Bank
Account No: 3137021629

A receipt will be issued to you. Please email the transaction confirmation page (save as JPEG or PDF File and send as attachment) to admin@spca-sbgperai.org.my after you have donated.

Note: All your donations to SPCA Seberang Perai are Tax Exempted.

Dad is alright with it but the journey there is too far. I really wish I could visit and volunteer there some day. Got to wait till I can finally drive and make my own choices ): Sighh..

HI, im from Penang, there was a MPPP cleaning man using a broom to chase and hit a dog in the market then i confronted him. He told me that the dog " Kacau Orang " while the dog was only eating not far away from me at one end and that fella was sitting smoking with his friends somwhere around 15 metres away. The dog has been there for quite some time and i often hear it shout and run in fear when i have my dinner there at the market, so i think the MPPP people does hit her which i dont know. But based from what the man did to her just now, i think they do. I asked him why not you just call SPCA to take it away since he claimed that it "Kacau Orang" all the time. Then he said Spca has no respond. And i think this is because Malaysia dot have these law such as Animal Rights so some people will just hurt the helpless stray. And there are some people throw their cat away together with 4 one week old kittens . Who should i complain to? because the person that hit the dog is the MPPP and i dont know who is in charge of that area and i dont think they will take any action because it is just a stray .

Anybody wants a puppy? it's mix breed...pm me..

may i know which SPCA is recommended to go for? i heard some are really horrible and my friend adopted one dog from there after that cost lots of medical treatment fees because the dog dint being well care...

so may i know if i'm interested to adopt a pet in good condition, where should i go? Not necessary have to be SPCA. Just hope to get a good cat or kitten.

I would like to know, I have a mixed breed dog which look like a stay dog, I adopted from spca 5 years back when she's a puppy. Now I'm moving to an apartment so I couldn't keep her anymore. I remember someone told me that if my dog is not a good breed, spca will just put her to sleep.

Is it true? Where can I put my dog now? I don't want to put her to sleep.

I would suggest this thread to be upgraded into Animal Shelter and Vector list? Since we have a lot more animal rescue groups and many people who lost their pets do not know where to claim back their lost pets if captured by council.

I've been searching for an SPCA in Penang for a while.

Might go there when I have free time to check if there is any hamster for adoption smile.gif

Or maybe I can help them.

Was not happy with SPCA Call centre!

I was calling SPCA for help on a bag full of kitten seen in Jalan Jelatek near a bus stop.
I was driving through the road and while waiting for the jam, on my left side (It was quite close for me to see) I saw a green bag full of kitten that has been abandoned. I can see that the kitten was trying to go out from the bag because some of them are climbing. I was not be able to stop and if could I could not help to adopt them because I have dogs. So, anyway. I immediately call SPCA (using handsfree bluetooth earphone) and tell them the situation, my first call was directed from one line to another line and ended up some one actually HUNG UP on me.
Then I call again, and there's this lady, who sounds and talk very rude to me. I was explaining the situation and she kept cutting me and tell me it was not their RESPONSIBILITY.

I was so angry that I couldnt stand her and I shut the phone.

It was bad. I felt bad and guilty for not be able to do something on that poor kitten.
I keep thinking, that if they climb over the bag and went to the road. They will be killed by car.

So, I was guilty till today.

Selangor SCPA also sucks! Drove like 60km away from home to their home at Ampang. Reach there on the dot 4pm. Got hold of them like 5 minutes before and told please wait. At the gate, rang the bell no action, phoned the number again, went to answering machine with Yasmin's voice. One girl came out from the house, walk and tried not to see us at the gate, talk to the cat she was holding and TOTALLY IGNORE US! OMG. Keep the dogs and cats if they arent willing to give for adoption.
Retards running the place.

I was just at the Petsmore Taipan shop at around 7pm to 7.30pm on Sunday, 03 JULY 2016.
I have a serious complaint...
Maybe the staff are new, AND have not gotten sufficient training... and the staff probably haven't gotten the hang of their job yet... But I was upset about 2 things.

Firstly, I could not find the prices to the cat food as ALL the various cat food types I saw were different from the labels below it. I told the cashier and she just giggled. When i told her, "no seriously, it was really difficult to find what i wanted", she turned serious as if unhappy with my comment.

Secondly, and the MOST UNACCEPTABLE thing is, when I was about to leave and saw their young puppies for sale... I went to see them just to say hello, as I hate seeing animals in captivity, and I was "shocked" to see that at least 3 of them had no water. It was just beside the cashier, and the young son of another customer was loudly telling his father that the animals had no water as well.

Since I was already beside the cashier, I just informed the same lady who had attended to me earlier that three puppies have run out of water. First she said "What?" as she didn't hear clearly what I said. I repeated iwhat I said... She did not so much as acknowledge what I said, and I didn't even say a straight-fthanks for informing or anything, but she obviously understood, as she told her other male colleague to replenish the water.

I sent them an email through their website asking the above and I told them when I pay a visit again and chance to see thr same thing, I would definitely take photos and email it to them, and I told them that I am not going to hide the fact that I am really angry with what I saw!!!

I will soon visit the store again... If I do see the same thing again, I just might go to the SCPA or even make a police report as the police station is exactly behind them in Taipan. I also saw on their website that their Taipan store just opened their doors a month ago. So I will cut them some slack, and check again before deciding whether or not I should take action.

There is one dog in Kajang that was chain besides the gate. The chain is so short that the dog cannot move around. Although there is food and water besides the dog but it is under the hot sun with no shelter. This amount to animal abuse?

Want to check how's the SPCA in Penang? I wanted to drop stray kittens there but will they help to get adoption or just put to sleep? Also is there any more free spaying service given by anyone as prices are not cheap in vets. And mentioned need to do 3 vaccination first. What's your experience or advice?
