Don't know much about bmw's but maintenance is sure high. You have to keep your car properly and service it regularly.

Correct me if i'm mistaken.

Which model u are driving? 320?325?

If 318,the FC is very bad because the engine is underpowered, heard my friend said ...then he transplant to a Nissan RB25DET ....

4-Cylinder or 6-Cylinder model? cause 320i got 2 spec, one is 4-cylinder 2.0L engine and another is 2.2L 6-Cylinder engine , 4-Cylinder in this kind of heavy body will cause underpower and heavy FC ....

Just wonder how the maintenance wise smile.gif

I think most important is to know the car parts price, whether it's acceptable to you or not, and where to get the best price. Next is to find expert mechanic that also charged for reasonable price. Then owning any car wouldn't be a problem.

Example of not knowing the parts price, one kelisa owner paid for 1k just for 3 mountings. That's not affordable in my opinion.

The car price is 70-80++ K ... it is affordable for me and most ppl with medium income ... but just the Maintenance is a concern,i have alot of friend driving this car,but mostly are low spec 318/320i 4-cylinder model which i heard they always complain about heavy FC and underpower, some of them convert to RB25DET/1JZ-GTE instead of using back the Beemers powerplant as the Japanese Powerplant are more cheap, and feedback from them is much more saving on Maintenance and FC plus it is really powerful as it was a 6-cylinder turbocharged engine, but for me i don't really like to do this kind of transplant as if something goes wrong in the middle of the transplant it will cause alot of hassle,so i want to find either a 320 or 325 6-cylinder model, but i didn't bump into anyone who own this car with these powerplant before so i doesn't know about how it perform,FC and maintenance wise unsure.gif .... i personally like the body shape of this E46 smile.gif

if u convert to RB...must as well get de ESS kit..if u can afford, get de 330i, de brake are also much bigger den de 325i..

ppl keep think bmw are premium cars, thus shud be fast like RBs/2J but its no dif compare to maps...how fast altis could be?
plus de FC are bad cos u will usually take a longer journey home too, just to enjoy it more

If u want it cheap, get 328. Only pay more for road tax. 2nd hand value for 328 is not as good as 325 or 320. Once u get bored with it, convert to 1jz vvti. Jap reliability with conti body. Superb driver car.

Oh , Superchager kit eh ? i doesn't want to even mod the engine cause once modded if something goes wrong it will be a real headache shakehead.gif

On BMW to Merz comparasion,i felt that BMW have more response/power ... as my bro have a SLK 350 now , when i drive it i can feel the power are more toward highend .... Beemers are more toward low to mid end ~

Yea ... BMW manufacture only quality car , can up Genting whack corner on stock suspension without problem plus it had the DSC system .... smile.gif

both 1jz twin turbo and 1jz vvti single turbo r pretty much bullet proof. That's why u see a lot of ppl convert to jap engine. Most owner r happy after the conversion. Haha..
