Is that so? All my printers can run Illustrators! no problem. I have a pool of about 5 printers and they all say. AI for film output- easier. Last time i was using PageMaker but now most printers are switching to AI. Even people in directories, newspapers uses AI. I've advertise in The Star, Guang Ming, China Press, Sin Chew - all say AI is good. the reason most designers use Illustrators is cause printers don't have any other software. however, other layout programs I know are Adobe InDesign (something like PageMaker) and Quark XPress.

Just remember to save your ai in AI9 or AI 10 as most printers are still using that.
