QUOTE(pengyew @ Dec 2 2005, 03:34 PM) if u wanna setup that when u switch on the PC straight away get connected, u need a modem with rounter. Not neccesarily true. You need an ADSL modem with built-in dailer software (not the ones using WinPOET or USB type ADSL modem). Like my case, I have a D-Link DSL-300G ADSL modem. This model is not a router, but it has built-in dailer and DHCP server and it uses LAN cable connection (non-USB). But since the DSL-300G is already obsolete (replaced by DSL-500T), most if not all the ADSL modem with built-in dailer nowadays are modem/router combo.

QUOTE(alvinool @ Dec 2 2005, 04:12 PM) for ur information - any modem out there can be set 2 become a router modem, even those provided by streamyx..all u need is the user name and password onli.... Are you sure you know what you are talking about or not? Do you have any idea how to do such thing or not? Do you even know what is the function of router and what level of OSI is it operating on? Is there any link or proof about your claim that you can convert a modem into a router modem?
