Yes and thank God things worked out as planned. brows.gif
A little hiccup when Machines in MV had problems with AmEx card. So, I cancelled my purchase and went to Machines in The Gardens, luckily it works. rclxms.gif

Anyway, I must thank Gen-X for this case. I actually wanted to get everything from Machines and will only get RM 50 weekend rebate.
Then, I recalled him buying an iPad 2 for his daughter. Managed to find out his blog post about it, quickly searched through Maybank TP catalogue to see if Harvey Norman's vouchers are still available. Saw that, called Harvey Norman and Machines, kao tim. biggrin.gif

So, Gen-X thanks so much for sharing the tips! drool.gif

But technically the TP belongs to you (asset in a different form) or should i say you had already calculated the "savings" when you purchased stuffs with your card and get the points...
Its just your mind playing tricks on u..

If u get what i mean...

Nah, I don't purposely buy stuffs just to get the points. I bought them because I need them. So, TP came as an added value for me. smile.gif

i think what he meant is if you considered your savings as 7.5% on weekends and 2.5% on weekdays previously, you are just converting the savings into a physical (non-point) form for the iPod. You are not getting additional savings per se.

Does not apply if you are only considering 5% weekend cash back all the while and the 5x points is in the background and not considered.

Glad to know my articles is of some use, haha.

Last month I wanted to redeem Harvey Norman vouchers for a Samsung Tab 8.9 for my Dad birthday gift. But while at HN, found out Apple iPad2 priced dropped to RM1199 and HV Sunway no stock so got it at Machines and used my wife's MBB 2 AMEX. My dad now expert in using iPad2 whereas I don't even know how to use it, hahaha. Now my wife wants my TP to redeem Parkson or Robinson vouchers to buy her SKII stuff doh.gif

Hmmm...was wondering how did you "earn" that RM200 as well. rclxub.gif
I understand that you got the RM50 cash rebate by buying the ipad2 for your company.
But the RM150 voucher came from you own TP collected previously, right?
That is yours with or without you buying the ipad2+ipod for your company.
So you redeemed 30k TP for the RM150 voucher? You can always redeem vouchers and use it yourself, right?
Did I missing something? hmm.gif
Besides the RM50 cash rebate, you do gain 1199 * 5x TP = 5995 TP = RM29.975 value from buying the ipad2 @ RM1199.
So you actually gain ~ RM80 from this deal. Not bad also la. laugh.gif

Has anyone used the american express membership points collected from the M2card for anything yet?

This card does give 2x membership points for ever RM spent right?
Like additional bonus.

Hmm. You have a point but so far I haven't seen any benefits of getting so much of TP.
My main point is to off-set my GST which I still have points to offset that.

No, it is not for my company la. My company doesn't even need me to do this kind of purchase. laugh.gif
Anyway, I don't have anything to buy at this moment. smile.gif So better convert the points into cash. Since, I have things to buy at RM 200 which I can't buy using any vouchers. smile.gif
In another word, I mentioned earlier, I don't consider this as an asset, it came as added value to me. Just that Maybank gives me 5xTP, then I just take it. My CIMB is just 10k and seriously I don't have any intention to redeem anything at all.

When Swiping Maybankard 2 AMEX at Shell, I received the pre-approved authorization for RM250. Can this pre-authorize amount be changed ?

I had gotten RM 200 and RM 250 from various Shell petrol stations. I guess there isn't a standard pre-authorize amount.
