I requested for upgrade (during pcfair, MBB staff not agent) and yes ofcourse get a new card with different number...
And i do get charged GST..... However after ding dong ding dong emailing to Maybank (cc to BNM), explaining i specifically requested for upgrade from Classic -> Gold card so considering that i requested for GST waiver and they allowed it..

Not long after that Maybank only launched the MBB 2 Card so i applied again, did the same email but this time dont allow anymore..

Well maybe i was lucky got away for 1st time, or maybe they dont allow for MBB 2 Card.

Btw bear in mind, i was holding Visa and Amex Classic -> Visa and Gold -> MBB 2 Card...
So i actually got waived RM100

Last time my MBB Visa Petronas was nearly split into two halves and requested for a replacement. It's FOC and it's not my fault. At Petronas self kiosk, the whole CC is reading inserted into the machine. It has tendency of being bent.

My Amex2 gold card already slightly broken but chip still can use,if i call up for replacement card will i get charge? Any other way to get new card without getting charge?

1) Always submit direct, either to:
(i) fax to credit card processing
(ii) goto bigger branch/HQ which has dedicated CC counters, not those multi-tasking ones. e.g. HQ menara MBB, KLCC, 1Utama CC Centre.

2) Your option is to call up and ask. Most likely they'll ask you resubmit / fax to the ones above.
It's quite hard. I tried transfer online and at ATM from my savings account in CC, both reject my transaction due to "over payment". Some say can do it over the counter, I did not try this.

What I did was, split payment over several days, of course I have to trust the seller.
1st swipe, wait few days to reflect in MBB, make payment.
2nd swipe, wait few days, ... repeat.
Final only collect the stuff.
Of course, it also depends on the shop if they can do that, as they may need to do closing every night and the numbers must tally with sales.

Thanks everybody for replying,will call them up tomorrow. They should make it every year issue a new card if their card material is lousy or may be i too rough with the card. Ha ha

i would have to agree that their card for me has the worst quality. I have HSBC cc which i have been using since about 2 years, still look very nice.

i juz called their CS last week sat, he told me my card approved and waiting to be mailed.
in addition, he verify my details when i am calling them....omg, how could they approved my application without verify my details 1st. 
i am speechless and stunned for few seconds when he was asking me these

Last time all CC are used to Swipe....After EMV chip introduced now should be using slot in already, unless the terminal is not upgraded yet.

That's one thing I don't understand. They'll never admit some of their ATM tends to break our ATM card and they (MBB) charge us for the replacement but not the CC.

Not sure if MBB charge us for replacement card like Citibank BUT when I asked if they would charge me for a new MBB 2 AMEX with the word Platinum (early ones without the Plat word), they said no and really reissue to me FOC.

Just call CS and explain to them your card is "broken" and you worry the tear will worsen and I am sure you'll get a replacement card for free.

Actually, if you are paying with AMEX at Sime Darby Medical Centre (Subang Jaya Medical Centre), they will only swipe your card.
