That is strange when you need to power up the RPi through USB port and not through microUSB power port.

Any cheap solution of connecting the Pi's HDMI to my monitor's DVI?
*
Get a converter cable .. BTW, bought HDMI to VGA off ebay, took a month for delivery, seems to work okay on my VGA monitor. BTW, there are some in lelong, HDMI -> DVI for around RM30 inclusive shipping, it might work.

Any pic of the HDMI-VGA adapter?

Some inspiring RPi projects:
RPi weather baloon project
Here is the one that I bought from ebay:

Really interested on weather balloon project, I'm into APRS (ham radio) and I've one of my transmitter up on hot air balloon before but this weather balloon with transmitter, it can snap photos up above and send them in realtime using SSTV .. there are many weather balloon project out there that used APRS & SSTV..

Where would you get a weather balloon here and what are the regulations regarding the private use of a weather balloon?
*
Need to check with DCA or Meteorological Department on regulations about weather balloon. Have no idea where we could source the balloon, guess need to import it/ebay probably has it. Best is to contact those who've done this project overseas, they might give their hands.

Only entertain order from businesses now. But I did use my company name in my billing address, got another email asking if the company name that I had in the billing address is my company, so, said yes, and just received an email saying that they'll proceed with the order. Haven't receive the confirmation though.

Here is the first email I received:

My first one has light blue for the audio jack, and has Made in the UK on the board. Will see the second one when GDex delivers it. Called them today and they said they'll rearrange delivery again. Yesterday was a no-show, no idea when they'll attempt the next one though.

Seems the latest batch sold by element14 are made in China .. the three units just arrived today are all made in China and not UK as of the previous batches.

I think they cannot handle the number of consumer transactions/requests/support calls ordering the RPi and disrupt their normal operations that usually handle biz users or few electronic hobbyists..
*
I was told that it's Raspberry policy which doesn't allow them to sell directly to end consumers.

Here is what they wrote to me when they cancelled my earlier order:

"Sorry that now we check so strictly as to follow the regulation of this raspberry pi."

Anyway, just order it under your company name and deliver it to the office lah. That should work.

I believe the "irregularities" are mostly due to the way they randomly select and choose packages that arrive. i've yet to have an electronic package detained, although i've heard stories about this.
*
Yup, agreed with C-Fu. I've ordered many things from overseas and I can see the pattern. Most small packages will pass the customs untouched. Bigger items, they'll check the value declared and they'll see if the value is more than RM400, they'll detain the items and make you do the clearance and they'll see if the items are taxable. I've many things shipped via couriers like DHL, FEDEX or UPS went through customs without problem even when it was bulky items. They way they do it as C-Fu said, randomly select..

What the differences between the RS and one sold by element14? Someone is selling the RS one for rm100 inclusive postage.
