does it have any thermal adhesive tape on it like those old school stick on heatsink on motherboard chipset?

but on a side note, i'm not sure if heatsink is required for rpi, i've read somewhere mentioning that the rpi could withstand quite a decent degree of heat.

did some search and got that too. now running without the heat sink

I tried to install kodi with the command: sudo apt-get kodi

the menus all are working but when trying to run the video, I only hear sound, no video image. any idea how to solve this?

If u wanna use Kodi, its better to use the raspberry pi image that comes with Kodi build in. Try to search for openelec. I am using it as my TV video player.

Yes, it should be quite straight forward, it run only Kodi when boot up and you can start to play music and movie from your harddisk, can even support youtube plugin. But I think the youtube plugin is not very user friendly.

rasp pi dont have build in Real Time Clock module.
kodi must connect to internet. it will sync the clock with the time server.
