Even streams mkv files around 20-30gb from my NAS with no problem
But for reason, if I tried streaming similar files (+20gb) from my pc, it lags a bit, guess got some problem with onboard LAN.

NAS is Network Attached Storage. Hard disk shared to the whole network.
Haven't tried Ubuntu MATE before, try Raspbian because there are lots of users so the probability of getting help is higher lol.

Some of the NAS from Synology or WD models can cost quite expensive
Thanks to rpi, you can just attach your external drives to your rpi, and share it in your home network
and there you go, a cheap DIY NAS

you have two options, which I think are more suitable(easy setup and best performance) depending on your usecase.

If you are the only one using the raspi, put your raspi at your room and buy a raspi compatible wifi adapter(literally plug and play instead of having to configure it) and plug a lan cable to your desktop/switch. Whether you need antenna or not depends on your distance of your raspi with your router.

If you need to share the services(movies, torrent, file sharing and etc) with other family members, then just buy a lan cable and plug it to your router.

If you're going to get a usb wifi adapter, you may need to get a usb powered hub(you need to check on the internet to see if it can be powered from raspi's usb power alone or not). If you're using TP Link 727N, or any MT7601 based usb wifi adapter, you can use the command below

  It is better for you to get a plug and play one, getting my wifi adapter to work whenever I upgrade my kernel is 

nope. typically I use usb ones because I need to record something for fun. But if you wanted something more serious, then I don't know much about it. Probably you can survey around garage sales?

Mind sharing how you configure it?
Motion sensor and everything else works fine?

I didn't tap into that as my webcam is just a webcam, not those cctv type
