QUOTE(alucard89 @ May 22 2015, 08:22 PM) Openelec Kodi of course, plays my media really well NAS.? Sobx dunno what's that, still new Even streams mkv files around 20-30gb from my NAS with no problem But for reason, if I tried streaming similar files (+20gb) from my pc, it lags a bit, guess got some problem with onboard LAN. I plan to create a cctv system using it with some webcams... And I have downloaded Ubuntu mate, is it gooding? This post has been edited by MrLoo: May 22 2015, 08:42 PM |

QUOTE(HwangTommy @ May 23 2015, 12:43 PM) NAS is Network Attached Storage. Hard disk shared to the whole network. Wao, seems nice NAS =)...Haven't tried Ubuntu MATE before, try Raspbian because there are lots of users so the probability of getting help is higher lol. Planning to learn more from this unit first, then when ok buy a few make a super arm computer =) |

QUOTE(alucard89 @ May 23 2015, 11:00 PM) Some of the NAS from Synology or WD models can cost quite expensive I HAVE GOT ALOT TO LEARN FROM SIFUS HERE...Thanks to rpi, you can just attach your external drives to your rpi, and share it in your home network and there you go, a cheap DIY NAS BTW, what type of usb wifi adapter u use bro? those with anthenna? |

QUOTE(wcypierre @ May 24 2015, 03:58 AM) you have two options, which I think are more suitable(easy setup and best performance) depending on your usecase. Thanks for your guidance. If you are the only one using the raspi, put your raspi at your room and buy a raspi compatible wifi adapter(literally plug and play instead of having to configure it) and plug a lan cable to your desktop/switch. Whether you need antenna or not depends on your distance of your raspi with your router. If you need to share the services(movies, torrent, file sharing and etc) with other family members, then just buy a lan cable and plug it to your router. |

QUOTE(wcypierre @ May 26 2015, 01:34 PM) If you're going to get a usb wifi adapter, you may need to get a usb powered hub(you need to check on the internet to see if it can be powered from raspi's usb power alone or not). If you're using TP Link 727N, or any MT7601 based usb wifi adapter, you can use the command below I purchased one from pier electronic. It is useable for raspberry pi as I read the description... Plug and play yo NOTE: for Raspi B, B+ only CODE rpi-update 4e2845e0cbe7e701f0431e66a26f730de264e7a6 wget https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/80256631/mt7601-3.18.11-777.tar.gz tar xzf mt7601-3.18.11-777.tar.gz ./install.sh |
