hey, new here, saw Raspberry Pi can do a lot of things. Feel like buy one and tinker with it and learn some techie knowledge.

just want to ask you guys if you can help me understand the difference
http://my.element14.com/jsp/bespoke/bespok...equestid=249225

whats the difference between the SD card provided?
MEMORY, SDCARD, RASPBERRY PI, 4GB
MEMORY, 4GB, SDHC, ULTRA

both same capacity, just one preinstalled the OS in it but is halved.

Once clarified will order the lot and learn how to tinker about biggrin.gif

Thanks, do let me know what else I need aside from the board, HDMI screen/ cable, ethernet, USB keyboard/ mouse

Start up with hello world.. C or C++..

learn using either vi,vim, nano, gedit and compiler such as tcc, gcc, g++

Pretty simple.. google up and good luck ! smile.gif

then i definitely recommend you to take up python instead of C if you wanna do more than just installing RaspBMC. much simpler and direct.

learning c/c++ or assembling language will give him a foundation of basic programming.
From there onwards, there wont be much difference when porting up to java, C,C++...

Will take whichever built a good foundation, any recommended site? got to know some from lifehack < inclusive of java programming
