Thanks for the information bro
ordered Type B 1 unit with black casing
gonna slowly build it up

about the power adapter, does it supplied with the board or we need to buy separately? Should be standard and can be bought at any electrical shop right?
*
power adapter would not be supplied with the board. separate purchase it is.
But normal samsung charger would do. Or your pc can power it as well
provided only 1 usb slot with low powered device.

Good luck smile.gif

I'm using my old samsung galaxy 5 charger.. IINS, it's only 0.5A.
Any idea what will happened if we use unsuitable power supply?
*
if it is 5V, shouldnt be a problem, for 500mAh, starting up
shouldnt be problem with HDMI, but usb device might disconnect.

i powered with 450mAh, with wireless adapter. no problem, running for 1 week direct.
Then i discovered that it auto disconnect the adapter for no reason.

Fixed it anyways. so yeah.. try it first.

When there is insufficient juice from the power source, Pi will just power down and try to power up again, resulting in an endless on-and-off cycle.
*
yeah, this is another side effect.
Forgot to mention smile.gif

so if the power is inadequate, it will only cause Pi to shutdown..
guess I'm ok since I didn't face any shutdown issue so far.. but the interface for the openelec seem like a bit lagging..

the funny thing is.. I use a 8GB sandisk card.. after I format it n install with the openelec, windows will show only 1GB space.. any idea why?
*
That's because different file system. The one you see in windows is the boot file system which
is in (FAT/FAT32)

The system partition is on default (EXT3/EXT4)... you can view that using a ext file system reader in windows.

Using Pi for any GUI such as Debian lxde, XBMC and OpenELEC will have quite a significant lag of up to several seconds. Don't forget that basically it could be just as powerful as your mobile phones. It is no where near the performance of any HTPC.

haiz.. nowadays phones are powerful as well.. quadcore lagi..

Can someone explain to me how the two diodes (D1, D2) here protect the circuit?

Also why the 1N4008 since the voltages involved her are so low.
Won't the 1N4001 do as well?

How powerful, depend your term powerful. Processing power this tiny device is not powerful but enough to run many Linux OS, and it have a GPU to output Full HD quality video. I have not try watching Full HD using Bluray iso, but other format are good and smooth.

Raspberry can be use for multiple things if you are a good coder. Can even be a good alarm system, small ECU and brain for many things.
*
i did a headless high speed object counter which controls 5 photoelectric sensors. wifi data transmissing, Sqlite database and with a webserver.

Basically many things could be done with this board smile.gif

Your coding and imagination is the limit of Raspberry. I still see people desiging Z80. This Z80 is almost 40 years old.
*
why still design z80 anyways?
