Is this a powered hub?

Do they sell this model without the adapter?
I got enough adapters in my junk box. tongue.gif
Would there be any internal difference between the two products (if available that is)

I have seen other brand powered hubs (you can see the power socket) sold without the adapter but wondered if they also removed board components too.
Actually I'm not even sure the power socket is inside the hole. rolleyes.gif

online the best. fast and reliable.

anyway, regarding my faulty pi, GDex collected it on Monday. Today I received the RMA's pi via GDex.

I must say, although the board is now "Made in the UK", the finishing is really not up to par. Tried taking a picture but it won't really show. The reason is that some of the glossy finishing at the back of the board is non-existent while some is coated with very thick gloss. I guess cannot complain too much since it's RMA'ed

I just bought the VZTech 7 port hub. Comes with 1A power adapter.
What is the purpose of the switch on the side?

It switches off completely not just power as I had assumed.
Will this VZTech hub still work if I cut off the 5V line from the USB cable to prevent back feed?

the things that are important to me are:

802.11n - non draft version
data rate: 5Ghz is good, but for a power-saving wifi version is quite impossible to achieve
sensitivity: the dBm rating would tell me how good is the signal capture capability
power rating: this would tell me if the thing is just small, or small and uses as little power as possible (both during load and idle).

normall all these aren't really important..... just that i'm looking to cut down power consumption as low as possible, that's all.

both are the licensed manufacturers for Raspberry Pi. they should be the same.

Just check to make sure you are getting the latest revision if you getting the model B. the newer variant has 512MB RAM.

yes, and there are revisions of the revision as well.

CODE
cat /cpu/procinfo

newest i believe is revision 16. it will give you a hex number which you need to convert. my latest boards are 000e (15).

For those who want to have some Raspberry Pi experience before they buy one of the boards. Now you can try the Raspberry Pi emulator.
