A china LED strips,
They claim that they can plug directly into Malaysia power socket, is it true?
传统的12V贴片需要配一个硕大的的直流变压器,且一个变压器只能接5米而言;而翰源升级款LED灯带只需要一个小小转直流插头即可接入220V电源,一个插头可以接100米,且安装十分便利,节省了成本。

coz as I know, usual led strips need to connect to a big device only can use in malaysia.
beside, it is make for 220v power socket, can malaysia use it directly?
malaysia power socket voltage is around 220v-240v?

Thanks~

most LEDs are 12V, and must go through a driver. This strip that you bought from china, what is the length, 5 meter? for only 34yuan,very very cheap. you need the driver(transformer) (http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=10614550206). did you buy this? if not cannot work at all. don't plug directly into AC240v, sure blow. rclxub.gif
btw, what u intend to fix this, up in your false ceiling? very nice effect with warm white

The traditional 12V patch needs with a huge DC transformer, and a transformer can only be connected to 5 m; John Source upgraded LED lights with only need a small DC plug you can access to 220V power supply, a plug can take up to 100 meters, and the installation is very convenient, and cost savings.

See the blue word, it says working voltage is 220V

Actually too good to be truth. Ah well, maybe is me being too skeptic

The voltage is too big and too large for the strip, and if the step down is build in is something really high tech. Never see such a small step down before.

It probably cheap LED wihich not really bright.

The step down voltage can be small. It is a switching trans. Which don't need a big transformer. If you shop around pasar road, you can see alot this strip light in a tube in 3ft-4ft which power by 240v.

Agree it can be small, but from the photos the TS post, is inside the strip. Is way too advance for my brain.

Yes, it can be small just like what you see those led driver downlight. It depend on wattage for the size. Just like those downlight driver, not last long if the component low quality, design wattage just enough and not wide range of incoming voltage.

you probably kena duty abt RM27(duty 15%) + RM19(sales tax 10%), but depends what the supplier declare as. you courier by DHL/Fedex? They will collect the duty from you. but sometimes, if you only buy 1 unit, or just very few, the kastam won't bother, so no duty at all. I bought something last time from aliexpress, didn't pay any duty coz kastma don't bother as only very small package. of coz, not haram items lah...lol...

the price you bot is cheap, coz they direct fr china, here, they sure mark-up, coz if spoilt or not working, here can change or warranty. but if you import rosak, then matilah.... but of coz, not so suay la... the transformer you ask here overpriced la, not so ex. depends on the voltage and amp you require for every strip. some big ones are expensive, coz u can power the whole strip. there is a way to calculate the size of the transformer required corresponding to the length of the strip.

This is a new technology that does not require transformer.

yup, that little white box is the transformer, or it's normally called the LED driver. How many meters of the strip light can it power? There is a limit to it. Normally a 2 Amp driver can power a 5m strip
