E-Sports@ Taylor's University
‎[ANNOUNCEMENT]
Firstly, we would like to apologize for any inconveniences caused. We have made some changes to our tournament. Below are the details:

StarCraft 2
StarCraft 2 tournament is now OPEN to the public! Though we have some really good players from Taylor's, it seems a great number of StarCraft 2 players in Taylor's are still hidden, thus we are unable to fill up the capacity of our tournament. We hope that by opening this tournament to the public, Taylorians can get a bigger challenge!

StarCraft 2 tournament will be divided into 2 division - BSG (Bronze, Silver, Gold) and PAA (Platinum and above) (lol "PAA"...) This is to encourage players from lower leagues to play competitively while still having hopes to win in tournaments. However, please take note that dropping leagues, using another person's account or using smurf accounts to play in the BSG division for better chances of winning will not be tolerated and will be DISQUALIFIED immediately!

Tournament format will be from group stages into double elimination. Groups will be decided once registrations are over.*
*: The format of the tournament may be adjusted according to the number of participants.

Scheduled date & time: Group stages - March 24, Double elimination & Finals - March 31
Venue: FTZ Asia Cafe
Prize: (Subject to change depending on the number of participants)
1st - RM 40
2nd - RM 25
3rd - RM 15

Registration form: http://bit.ly/mar12sc
A registration fee of RM 8 is required for non-members of Taylor's e-Sports. No fee is required for members of Taylor's e-Sports. For Taylorians and those staying near Taylor's Lakeside Campus, you may pass your registration fee to us at our booth in front of Taylor's Lakeside's Student Life Centre from 5 - 9 of March. For the others, you may bank in your money to:

Maybank
Lim Fann
114281150090

OR

CIMB Bank
Tan Khing Khai
07310016236526

After you bank in, please scan or take a photo of your receipt and email it to esports.tlc@gmail.com and we will send you an e-mail for confirmation. If you used the cash deposit machine to bank in RM 10, we will return you your RM 2 during tournament day. wink.gif

good point. however, we (taylor's e-sports) are on a freaking tight budget with no sponsors for sc2 whatsoever. as of now, we don't even have a venue sponsor. everything we have to pay comes from the registration fees and even out of our own pockets. right now, i just want to make this thing work and let gamers have fun while also trying to construct a taylor's team.

besides that, it is also stated that the prize will subject to change depending on the number of participants. the more people join, the more money we have to be able to throw into the prize pool of all our 3 games, not just starcraft 2.

hence, i hope ppl can close one eye when looking at the prize, as registration fee is only 8 bucks per person, and support my tourney ^^

I'd join just for the heck of it but I still am a bit iffy on the format of the league being a bar for separation. Someone who's on a lower league in 1v1 might actually be of higher standard compared to a person whose league standing is actually higher due to the buildup of skills in 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4. All in all, I'm not going to be there to join the competition but all the best to the organizers. Good luck, have fun.

That's not entirely true, is it? I mean, you at the very least learn how to defend against multiple types of rushes (provided you actually improve and rank up the ladder), as well as micro and different builds and strategies. Albeit it requires less skill than 1v1, it still helps to give you some idea on basic build orders and whatnot. If this is a one-time tourney, I do agree it's a bit intimidating for new players to join as the skill level will be relatively big but I reckon there should be some kinda basic "grading" system, something like what IC cup used to do. Or maybe I'm just overthinking things again.. hahaha tongue.gif

^ lol at the conversation hahah. team game give u basics but it's true that 1v1 is different. u have to think it this way: the BSG league is not for those total newbs, it's for ppl who MIGHT be good at team games, get to play competitively at 1v1 and still be able to win something.

and ummm, i'm thinking of upping the prize just for the heck of it, since we organizers are ready to dump our own money into this. good news, no? wink.gif

I worry about FTZ's network and coms. Last time when SMM hosted a SC2 competition with players bringing their own pcs there they were still not able to connect to bnet.

maybe you guys should check it out. I dont mind the prize $$ though.
