I think after samsung announced their S3, others will use it to adjust the selling price etc.. Just wait and see. Nokia should come out soon enough to snatch some of the samsung's market. Not easy for sure.

Interesting Video comparison between Iphone 4 vs 808:

Note that the microphone recording makes a hell lot of difference. That will be important for multimedia fan out there eyeing the 808.

It seems the joke is slowly coming true. if you notice if people have a question they use google beside that more and more ppl are staying indoor separating reality and virtual. People are getting more dependant.

I even feel todate people cant even tell whats good and bad due to the constant brainwash by media and people.

Thanks bud.

Such discussion about Nokia vs others will always be there. But pureview has just fulfill the holy grail of smart phone device, which is the powerful camera equipment.

No more and no less.

Its a device that fits the niche market of photographer, either amateur or pro, that allow them to have one handy device and capture images on the spur of the moment. With good images to boost.

For me, this device has solved my digital camera and camcorder problem. All in sub 2K price tag I hope.

Wah.. A long thread to follow...
Waiting to c the real launching news... smile.gif

IMO... Nokia phones alwiz included price of a GPS...
bcos only Nokia provide free navigation with off9 map on their mobile...
Neither jb/root needed...
So now 808 is a 41MP camera + GPS? 1.6k shd b a good price...

Generally how good is the Nokia GPS for Malaysia and Singapore?

Here's interesting Q&A about the pureview which answer a few of my questions:

source: HERE

Q : Are creative modes like Panorama, HDR, Time lapse and long exposure built into the camera?
Vesa : Bracketing is included as an option but you would need a PC to merge the images, it takes three different exposures. Time lapse is possible with the creative mode called “Interval” which can take up to a maximum of 1500 shots with set intervals. Panorama is planned to be given as a separate app through the Nokia store, no word on the availability of that, yet. Long exposure is possible with the built in manual Nuetral density filter which will allow for longer exposure times while in bright situations. (like taking milky pictures of waterfalls)

Q : Will there be control of shutter speed available as an option for long exposure shots?
Vesa : No, that will not be possible.
Ari Partinen, the camera expert who accompanied Vesa demoed us the creative modes and the time lapse options, also showed us a very beautiful time lapse video created with the Nokia 808 Pure View.

Q : Are there any changes in the music player? Any additional controls or features like gapless playback, cross fade.. etc?
Vesa : No, and if there are changes in the future, we can’t comment on it now.

Q : Is Dolby audio already present on the music player?
Vesa : You would need a good stereo head phones to experience it, but yes, it is available.

Q : Will 701 and the other 1st generation Belle Devices get 1080p recording considering that they have the same GPU?
Vesa: No, mainly because we tried to do 1080p video recording right, and we did that right with the 808 pure view. We don’t want to compromise on that with the other devices. But those devices are getting the Belle FP1 update, and their clock speed will be upgraded to 1.3 GHz like the Pure View.

Q : Qt5, what’s the roadmap for the development platform? Will it come to the current Symbian devices? The 808 in particular?
Vesa : Sorry but we can’t comment on our company plans and future roadmaps.

Q : I got to see that there is flickr integration inside the camera UI, is there also an in built for it and Vimeo? I remember seeing it in some presentations, any comment on that?
Vesa : We are not allowed to comment on that since we have not made any announcement, yet.

Q : What about the externals of the device? Is it polycarbonate like the Lumias, any other special addition to make it sturdier?
Vesa : Yes, the device body is made of poly carbonate plastic and has a ceramic coating. We particularly made sure that the device is very easy to grip and functions like a proper camera.
He gave me the device for handling it myself, and boy did the device feel really good. The grip was perfect.

Q : What is the max ISO supported on this device?
A : I got to see that setting and it was 1600, pretty impressive, you might think, but the main reason to be excited about it is that the range is high enough to support noise free ISOs in the lesser exposures like ISO 400 for example.

Q : How is Nokia going to promote the device considering that Lumia is its full focus and marketing dollars are behind that?
Vesa : I think Vipul might be a better person to answer that. But you can be assured that India is an important market for Symbian and I see people are very excited to own great cameraphones.
Vipul Mehrotra is Nokia India’s marketing head and I spoke to him as well, he says -

Vipul : We are not going to compete with ourselves, we never do that. Your point is valid, so, when it’s releasing, there will be a calculated effort in launching phones in intervals so that they don’t overlap. Also, the 808 is in a completely different segment and is a niche, so that won’t be a problem.

If we are taking videos and received phone call at the same time. Can we answer the call with handsfree device to answer phone and continue with the video recording uninterrupted?

Sure about what? I was asking a question. Not giving statement.

For a device that's able to record video in HD, its likely that it will be used as continuous recording device for all occasions. So half way phone comes in can be an interruptions.

Great photos and video, but truly need a camera holder that can strap on to a tripod or monopod.

It truly is one device for all, except for those who are games junkies.

I believe the best way to describe this phone is a 'Camera with built-in smart phone function'.

Has anyone tested what happened if a call comes in during video recording? Does the video need to be halted or one can still answer the phone while still continue with video recording ??

to be honest, what sold me the most about the phone is sound quality during video recording. it is way better than most m43 and dslr.

i used to own sony nex , the sound quality is very bad, distorted whenever there's bassy sound.

panasonic gf2 is much better than sony nex, can change mic levels etc and no distortion but the sound quality still cannot match the one in pureview.

Agree. From some online test the sound recording is much better than iphone. Sound is very important in any video recording for sure.

Interesting item there, but how would a manual lens work where the auto focusing will focus away from your setting ?

You mean camera phone allow us to manually set to infinity and stay there ?

What about pureview, is there any manual focusing module built in? Thanks.

Note: 1. earlier I also ask a question about this camera... if we are shooting a video, if call comes in, will the video shooting be automatically interrupted to answer the call ? Can one of the owner try this ? I was thinking if we use a hands free device, video shooting may not need to be turn off and we maybe able to answer the phone at the same time.

Note: 2. time-lapse photography: I note that there is manually set shooting interval available in this pureview. If we use that setting, what will come out ? A series of tima lapsed photo Or video ? Is there a way to shoot time lapse video with built-in functionality without resorting to third party software ?

Thanks..
