The "A" is to make people butthurt
The technical answer is because they want to make alternative to optical zoom. For the past 5 years or more, Nokia wanted to provide optical zoom, but it will make the phone bulky and it's also more pricey, plus, the aperture also is not constant (which will affect the shutter speed and/or ISO --> image quality)
With 41MP, they manage to make an alternative to optical zoom, plus come up with this oversampling technology they called PureView.

it will be, according to Damian Dinning, they are still working on optimization like better image stabilization, reduce noise while retain more details at night shot etc. Generally, this will overpower many higher end P&S as well..

True leh, the part abt not allowin DSLR in or disallow photo taking. Seems just happened at the All England. Some of the pics the audience took got weird angle, trying to avoid security's eyes, lol

design most likely is finalized, since they already publicly show them out, and teasing with so many color choices. Even if there are changes it might be just some slight touch downs, so yeah, the general design is confirmed.
