Last month, I had to pay my CC bills one day after the Due Date

No Retail Interest Charged
UOB, SCB

Retail Interest Charged
HLB

So be careful with HLB CC and make sure you pay before or on the Due Date.
I've asked for waiver from their CS.... and they told me to pay the Interest first, wait to be creditted in the next statement  doh.gif  doh.gif  vmad.gif  mad.gif

Me too, UOB I do payment by GIRO on due date, payment only credited to UOB 1 day after due date. No interest nod.gif

HLB...dare not try yet laugh.gif

Any EON/HLB card users here?

Last time round, EON gives Cash Back of RM50 to offset GST if u swiped the card for at least 24 times a year (IF my memory doesn't fail me). Is this still applicable? My card anniversary is in May, that was in the early stages of EON-HLB integration. I got that RM50 Cash Back.

Just wondering whether those with card anniversary later than mine still getting that RM50 Cash Back.

Nonono

I'm holding EON-GSC card, had it for a few years already. It's a CB specifically to offset GST, i.e. either RM50 or nothing at all, credited to you on exactly the same billing month as the GST.

As for auto deduct - I don't think the bank will do it for fraud cases BUT if you fail to pay your credit card bills or have outstanding balances and can't pay the minimum 5%, yes, they will deduct from your banking account and it is mentioned in the T&C.

Bro, if it is clearly a fraud case, we don't really have to worry since our maximum liability is RM250. However, if it due to one's negligence, like reporting they lost their credit card "late", then it is subjective.

at risk of offending a dear MODERATOR, I would like to ask, especially since he's From: 서울, South Korea, "DO U EVEN STAY IN MALAYSIA? DO U HAVE LAYMEN FRIENDS? all your posts sound like u live in a perfect world, living by the laws and standards but the real world is NOT that straightforward."

So I hold a card from XXX Bank, does that rob me of the right to have doubts and ask questions? I DON'T SEE THIS AS BEING HYPROCRITICAL.

You asked an open-ended question (regarding credit card and touching on banking system safety) with no absolute answers. I feel you are not having doubts per se but seeking reassurance that other people share the same concerns you have. I'm sure everyone here have the same concerns. But saying you have serious doubts and continuing to use the facilities does not jive with your position.

Bro, we are here for discussion to benefit each other, why you want to insult others? The first paragraph clearly shows your intention.

And you very senso lah, you make "fun" of me with your sarcastic remarks using "colorful" words and calling me names like unker; but, I get your point and therefore I can understand where you coming from. But when others comment your reply/post, you become defensive instead of elaborating on your thoughts, haha.

For your information, Bro hye has been contributing to credit cards matters at Pinned Credit Card Thread for years prior to this section being created. I have learned a lot from him. His posts are direct and if you read carefully, he is not really attacking you but makin a point.

Everyone has their own style of writing, hye's posts are direct whereas yours is more relax style as if talking to a buddy. By the way, I like your style of writing too, using words like "rob", as if a gun is pointed at you, to make a point.  tongue.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong, this forum are mainly made up of laymen members. Finance professionals wouldn't need to ask questions here, would they? We don't need the holier-than-thou tone of posting here. Why insult u may ask? Some professionals/middle-higher income ppl would never stand in the shoes of the laymen.

He has been targeting me ever since I attacked him over the GST waiver offset issue. We as laymen/consumers, why would we want to care about the law/technical stuff? All we want to know is whether we can get it or not, simple as that. Leave the compliance to the bankers. If the bankers want to find creative ways to manoeuvre around the laws, its to our benefit and their problem, not ours. He made it as if using the GST waiver word could land us in jail.

To give u an idea, got this from HLB website, most banks are the same:

Minimum Monthly Repayment
5% of the outstanding balance or a minimum of RM50, whichever is higher.

Late Payment Charge
Late Payment Charge of 1% of total outstanding balance as at statement date, subject to a minimum of RM10 and a maximum of RM75.

Just go and bank in RM10 lar doh.gif

Isn't there a minimum payment of RM50 or something? If you don't pay then they will penalize you also ma.

But you then say you overpaid last month so doesn't that mean you overpaid them RM2? If like that then no need to pay also. Or maybe I no understand you.
*
last statement overpaid e.g. RM100
this statement charges e.g. RM98
balance outstanding RM2

Guys, may I ask, can I cancel my credit card without personally going to a branch? What would be the "best practice" to go about this?

Thanks in advance.

can i use Credit card to pay bills?

it dont count as cash advance? wont it?

and which bank's online system allow payment to CIMB Futures or CIMB Investment Bank using credit card?
*
I doubt any bank would allow that as a retail transaction, it's effectively a cash transaction i.e. u can "pay" to the investment bank's trust account and then subsequently withdraw cash from there.

Hi,

just want to ask , if it's possible to convert credit card debt into a loan without going to AKPK ?
*
Sarjan wave.gif

Listen to me, not worth it to convert to Personal Loan (I presume u talking about PL) unless u government servant and can get loan with ultra low interest rate. Just PAY AS MUCH AS YOU CAN every month.

If u want detailed calculation/explanation, e-mail/PM me on FB I explain to u.
