Just want to ask, when banks put the minimum annual income for cards is it gross or net?
Meaning, does it minus out the EPF/Loans/Income Tax/etc or just the amount on the payslip.
Just wondering coz I am rejected by OCBC for the Ti card and I'm earning roughly 60k p.a. but with Housing Loan.

it should be gross
but ocbc are known to be hard to get, especially if it's your 1st cc
or maybe the bank sees your credit rating as a risk to them

you can always try to appeal or apply again after 6 months

It's my 3rd credit card so maybe that's why they reject me.
I want to cancel my Hong Leong clear card which is really useless but scared cancel dy left with one card if cannot apply new one.
I blame my sister for this stupid HLB clear card, last time she staff so HLB forced her to get new applicant for credit card. I become victim.
Anyway, what is better? Cancel current card before applying new card or get new card only cancel current card?

If you not using the HLB credit card, why keep it.

Don't be discourage because OCBC rejected your application, many people reported the same.

If you are earning RM60K or having salary of RM5K/month, many banks are more than willing to offer you a credit card.

Having said that, some have reported that their Maybankard application was also rejected because their income is commission based even though they earn more than RM60K/year.

FYI, I hold titanium, 3 platinum & 3 visa signature with the recent one from HSBC which is known hard to get. However, I did apply for MBB Dual for 3 times for the past years and all are rejected. doh.gif My company current account is also with them for more than 7 years with healthy records. Sometime it is hard to understand how bankers evaluate us.

Since OCBC rejected you, why don't give a try at others bank since your income is eligible for it. There are many banks offer cash rebate card too such as HLB Wise, Alliance You:nique and Citibank Cash Back. Study your spending pattern and hunt for the right card that suit you. By the way, you must also have a clean CCRIS and CTOS record in order to get your application approved. As far as I understand in CCRIS record, any number 3 will have 0% chances rclxub.gif while any number 2 is 20% hmm.gif and any number 1 will have 50% chances sweat.gif in you application approval.

Wish you all the best and good luck in hunting your new card. thumbup.gif

Hi all smile.gif
I'm wondering when credit cards are promoted to have cash back on "retail" spending, does that include online too?
Most of my transactions are done online - via online payment gateways, paypal etc.
What do you guys recommend as the best credit / debit card? (can take into account all premium/platinum cards too)

And for overseas (foreign currency) online transactions as well?

I read quite a number of review sites but I'm unsure if overseas /retail spending applies to online transactions.

Many thanks for your reply! smile.gif)

This Hong Leong Wise Gold Credit Card for example: https://ringgitplus.com/cards/credit-cards/...old-credit-card
Travel purchases qualifies for 10% cashback, does that qualify make any online purchase in foreign currency? (Or back to the question of overseas "retail" spending again)

Online Purchase also Consider as Retail Spending... nod.gif
Retail Spending (Transaction) = All Purchases of Goods or Services (including all the Billing, Insurance, Quit Rent, Assessment Fee...) Charged to the Credit Card
But, NOT Including : ALL Cash Advances, Balance Transfer, Instalment Payment Plan, other Credit Plan, Annual Fee & Charges.. rolleyes.gif

I have to agree with you. It is hard to understand how banker evaluate us.
I have similar situation here. Applied for car loan 140k approved by MBB. But at the same time ask for MBB2 card . Rejected.
Right after that i tried OCBC titanium . Approved in two days. Can you believe this? rclxub.gif

CC application by pledging FD no longer applicable? Best is to contact the bank directly.

just to share for those who going to move to overseas for long period of time e.g. 2 years and eventually your card might expire during that period. Most banks can accept early renewal so that you can get a new card and Maybank in fact can courier card to your overseas address if you have moved to overseas.

However it is advisable to use 'local' credit card in overseas if you work there since you will not lose on the exchange rate.
