Train on the roller as usual while practicing clip on and off with one leg (the other leg was to hold my balance while on roller)... Later decide to clip both of my leg and ride on the roller and guess what happend....

Loss my balance (low speed riding) and drop to the floor in slow mo. Thankfully the floor is carpeted and it cushioned my fall. One of my leg is still clipped on after the fall... Had a good laugh at myself nothing bad had happend (the RD was still okay) doh.gif doh.gif

you must have looked down on the pedals while trying to clip in...

learn to feel around and step in next time.. unless you are really fumbling then you look down.. very dangerous as i seen before a newbie to clipless pedals spend time looking down to clip in and unknowingly crash into a car parked on the road side... no major injuries... just some very hurt self esteem...

Butthead,

Actually i was clipped in already when i was on the move in the roller. I having problem relexing on the handlebar while the bike was moving slowly. Hence i got unstable and tumble down.

i guesed practice take times doh.gif

By the way is it normal for the QR skwer to be very hard to unlock and lock back in? I find it super hard to open up the front skwer of my bike when i try to realign the wheel. rclxub.gif If it too tight what will happend?

Saw a deal in local aussie bike shop selling BMC Road racer SR02 for around RM4.5k tempted to get it... lol doh.gif Is it worth to get that BMC bike, the frame catches my eye.... it look so different from other mfg frame

Btw, trek new bike vid

aiyoh..too long to scroll and quote. haha. anyway butthead, yea the price is the same for 2way fit and normal one. (black). I believe the seller doesn't know there should be a price different between the two version. however black suits my frame color the best (black, white, green). putting on brightly red will make my bike looks uncool tongue.gif

But to think that they might have wrongly put the price low for the 2way fit will be my gain actually, sadly the colors doesn't blend well.

About the wilier tirestina, yes it's not carbon frame, feels a lot heavier than my merida when I lifted it up, but the colors and design caught my eyes..italian you know..hehe wub.gif

minizian: i was contemplating between rollers and trainers recently but ended up with the latter. putting up some good sessions on it and was sweating like mad. i'm not sure whether I can fully achieved really hard session on a roller, but it sure gonna helps your balance on the bike. clipping, free hander, all comes at ease with trainers rclxms.gif

But the most important thing would be putting on a correct training sessions on it, and ride with a target.

p.s: and about getting 2nd bike or another bike, my advice would be..just love your current bike smile.gif resists the temptation broooo. hehe

don't do anything else at low speed. something to do with gyroscopic effect. don't want to get too technical, sorry.

for 30 grams, and no price diff... i say ignore it and go two way fit just in case you decide to try tubeless...
i haven't personally tried mounting a tyre on a tubeless compatible rim, but someone i knew has. he says mounting a tyre on a tubeless compatible rim is a b*tch. so that's why i choose normal type. anyway, how many tubeless tyres are there, besides hutchinson's?

haha... at least you are stationary this time around... last time you got speed wobble.. now you have roller wobble...

it depends on the design of your QR... some QRs are designed to be very progressive when you close in... some designed to let you get a feel when it is closed properly... some is just linear feel...

if it is too hard to open and close... possible that you have too many wind the QR up too much before you close the lever... try taking out 1 or 2 turns and close again see if there is any diff.. if you are afraid the wheel might come off... give it a whack from the top of the wheel directly on top of the tyre.. if it doesn't come off or wobble.. then it is safe..

road racer sells for under RM8k here MSRP for 105 spec'ed... less than 11k for ultegra spec'ed... frame price i don't know.. but expect it is slightly more or around there... whether it is worth to get? comparing it to yours and you don't mind paying the extra money let alone a 2nd bike, of course yes... carbon beats alloy frames anyday in terms of frame stiffness and ride qualities...

but if you are still not confident about riding... i suggest you stay off it for the moment... i have a pic on a BMC road racer that crash.. you don't wanna see what happened to it... gnarly...

2 way fit is just to future proof your wheel assuming it can last more than 5 years... mine hardly last more than 2... so, i give up...whether tubeless options is there or not... i don't think it is important and furthermore, i doubt you are willing to buy new tyres everytime you get a catastrophic puncture... it is nuts...

if you like italian flair... you should consider the colnagos.. they have a longer history than willier... or even bianchi... i kinda like the C59 colnago.. but... quite a pretty bike and too rich for my blood...

resist temptation... better stay away from this thread... with "good friends" like miaopurr and dinraxx.. you are bound to lose control... hahahahha

imagine having to mount your car tyres without that leverage machine the mechs used... this is maybe 25% the amount of swearing you will dish out while trying to mount the tyres with a shitty small piece of plastic tyre lever onto a small little rim with brake track that you are afraid of scratching and that is even after applying 10 tubes of ky jelly and 20 tubs of vaseline petroleum jelly... it is no wonder why your friend says its a b**** to mount tubeless... i would have outright called it a mutha trucker right away and call in the air force to napalm the area where the wheel is...

trainers damaging frame is a hotly debatable topic among carbon frame owners... some say, yes and some say, no.. i think generally it is a no for carbon frame as it should be capable of taking static stress loads on the chain and seat stays while riding, let me put it "gentlemanly" (in your saddle spinning away)...

if you like to romp away like a beast riding out of saddle and sprinting for the line like mark cav swinging the bike wildly left and ride even if it doesn't actually budge... god help if the carbon tubes don't break and your frame folds up and you be on the newspaper the next day for some freak accident that end up with some carbon tubes stuck up your bum bum...

I'm not sure whether trainer can damage carbon frames or not..but I just put that thought aside and ride on it without any issues so far. If the chainstay or whatever breaks, I will claim warranty from my lbs.. no hassle there. I mentioned to them what if the frame breaks or whatever during the ride, they just told me to bring it back over to the shop..and since they are the distributor of the brand here in malaysia, it wouldn't sweat them just to get a new replacement. hopefully all those are not purely salesman's crap tongue.gif

with a proper care, and as butthead mentioned above as not to ride like the manx missile, then it is perfectly OK. maybe in the long run (3-4 years of using the trainers, gradually the frame will wears out). until that day arrives, I may have become fitter and fitter...and a new bike or frame might just be worth considering...an italian maybe? tongue.gif

RM 4500 could only get you a bike with 105 set.But if you're willing to up the ante, I suggest add another 1.4k and get Giant Defy with 2012 Ultegra and Ksyrium.

Let's train for LeTua 100
