QUOTE(ryan3721 @ May 11 2012, 12:23 PM) Just wonder if after puncture, should we re-patch the inner tube or just throw it away? i replace with a new tube but i keep the punctured tube in my back pocket. i only carry one spare, so I will patch up the punctured one if i have to. if i survive the ride, i just throw the old one away.after patching a puncture, I got this funny feeling for whole trip. The bike just felt different..the feeling goes away next day.. this happened for the last 3 times... ya i am cheap ... maybe just psychology... or the inner tube need time to reseat itself after taken out? |

QUOTE(butthead @ May 14 2012, 11:30 AM) not necessarily for wide rims only... the wide rims only strengthen the case of wider tyres as the pro riders was refusing to ride them even though there was statistical figures that 25 rolls better... cornering with 25C on 19/21 rims. dodgythe wide rims offer better interfacing on the 25 while it still works to reduce rolling resistance on our normal 19-21mm rims... Added on May 14, 2012, 12:22 pm QUOTE(ryan3721 @ May 14 2012, 11:44 AM) saw my friend using the 25mm tyres. yeap, same with me. had to deflate a bit to take it out. i like to keep my brake short.every time put on/taking off the rims will have to deflate the tyres a bit as the brake not wide enough, even open to the max. quite inconvenient. is it common or depends on the brake models? hardly see roadies wear visors. why do you choose to use g-string, tranny, cross-dressing, as your example? have u been skipping on your medication again? This post has been edited by miaopurr: May 17 2012, 10:28 AM |

QUOTE(butthead @ May 18 2012, 09:18 PM) check with godzilla. i think they will if not already have enve.Added on May 19, 2012, 10:21 pm QUOTE(mrjgx @ May 19 2012, 12:37 AM) Owh btw after searching high and low for FSA handlebar in KL..which is quite a dissapointment (except KH cycles but they carry no size for me and only 1 model) I finally put an order through wiggles..a Wing Pro compact. nearly ordered K Wing carbon, but I guess there are thing which is best left un-carbonized...couldn't wait for it to arrive! stem, handlebar, seatpost, better use alu type. u can never know when it'll fail. no matter how precise you torque ur bolts, the carbon fiber on ur handlebar will crack.Added on May 19, 2012, 10:23 pm QUOTE(Confession @ May 19 2012, 04:00 PM) Anyone here got experience in mounting folding tires ? Tried it the first time left last few inches but damn hard to get it in, wonder is it my tire problem or not, its a vittoria zaffiro. yeah, i use folding tyres. the hardest one i had was panaracer stradius. just keep on trying slowly. This post has been edited by miaopurr: May 19 2012, 10:23 PM |

QUOTE(vin_ann @ May 28 2012, 04:44 PM) mainly the reason tt bikes are not allowed in a group ride (drafting), is because of the aerobar. having said that, riding on a roadbike with clip-on aerobars are also frowned upon. because like butthead said, it can limit your handling and slow down your reflexes when you go into aero position. personally i have nothing against tt bikes and aerobars. just that i would keep a distance from riders with aerobars tucked in aero position.there are other reasons, but that's the main one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaQJB_bWA4c This post has been edited by miaopurr: May 29 2012, 12:09 AM |

before getting an aerobar, check your handlebar first. is there enough level space to mount the aerobar clamp? some handlebars have very small level area just enough for the stem faceplate.

QUOTE(butthead @ May 30 2012, 09:29 AM) enough la... not mounting it on mtb also... road bike bar top got lots of real estate unless he has 10 lights, 2 horns, 1 bell and 3 cycling computers on it already... how to describe ah? i used to own ritchey handlebar. the bar slopes down right after the faceplate for about 2 inches both sides. so when i clamped the aerobar, it didn't complete hold onto the handlebar. |

QUOTE(butthead @ May 30 2012, 09:56 AM) i get what you meant... like those cinelli sweep back bars... just make sure the handlebar has enough level space to mount the aerobar. if not, sell the existing one and get a new one. i sold my ritchey and bought deda newton. deda newton had enough space to mount the aerobar.at least... it's not that common... of course... the best option to get a base bar...aluminum ones are very cheap.. unfortunately.. having to re-purchase the shifters and brake levers will build up a bomb... unless the bull horns are so long that the existing shift lever can mount to it with no issues... even that will still involve lots of work redoing the bike... |

QUOTE(vin_ann @ May 30 2012, 10:25 AM) so much talks about aerobars... yet try ask yourself, are your legs is strong enough enable you to cycle fast enough, put on aerobar can makes you go even faster? not so much about speed. i guess the objective is, to use less energy at the same speed. unless u can take turns to pull/draft in the race. correct me if i'm wrong.if all above answers are "no", then back to basic, train up your leg... Btw, how to define "fast" ? can use P2K speed as benchmark?? |

QUOTE(lkoky @ May 31 2012, 06:49 AM) Guys, if you want to cycle on unlit roads, get the expensive ones like magicshine. you'll get the batteries too. but you will have to strap the battery pack onto your top tube. Can recommend good Headlight and taillight? not cycling off-road in the night. but for normal tar road in residential area. But sometime certain section of the road is unlit. so need strong light. another one is roxim, compact, no separate battery pack. but the price is rm198 excluding batteries. if you buy the batteries, you'll come to rm200+ as well. or you can buy the flashlight type, and buy a bike mount. like ultrafire flashlight, inclusive battery about rm100. but personally i don't like this type, because the beam is narrow and concentrated at the centre. it doesn't disperse much to the sides. what i personally use is, just a normal cateye headlight. this is 'to-be-seen' type of light. not bright enough to light up dark roads. for tail light, i use a 3 LED blinker and a skully. the 5 led blinker from cateye is great, but the clamp is bulky and may get in way of your thighs when you cycle. Added on May 31, 2012, 9:19 am QUOTE(cyam95 @ May 31 2012, 09:10 AM) I need some advice/opinion on purchasing new bike. I'm planning to buy carbon bike with budget around 10k. Below is my consideration for slightly more than 5k u can get a specialized s-works tarmac SL3 frameset, and 3k+ you can get an SL2. interested?1. argon 18 gallium 2. trek 4.6 3. boardman team carbon 4. cervelo s2 5. pinarello fp2 (quattro) Now I'm not sure which one is better and value for the money. Is it better for me to build the bike instead by buying frame and other component? What frame can I get for around 5k? OR, if you are ok with polygon bikes, for 7k+ u can get Helios 800, complete bike. not sure about other brands you mentioned. This post has been edited by miaopurr: May 31 2012, 09:19 AM |
