- small and handy.
- the screen is crisp. but too small to realize . haha . but it definitely produce sharp looking graphics.
- built quality is great and sturdy, battery cover seals shut, the "pants" aka interchangeable color cap fits perfectly as well.
- speaker loud enough BUT missed few calls when its in my pocket, speaker grill easily covered, common scene.
- once again i can fully grip my mobile single handed . i was using from 4.2 to 4.8 to 7 and now 3.5. haha .
- battery consider lasting for me. havent tried it with hardcore usage.
- the interface is generally smooth, once a while it lags, normal for Sony UX UI.
- Quick Launch camera by holding camera shutter and it directly takes a shot. Sometimes its focused. sometimes it not.

doh.gif

- NO FM transmitter ( most of the reviews online got it wrong, SOLA has it but not X.U )
- the notification light is just a dot above the screen ( NO !! the light bar doesnt light up to notify u anything, just the very dim LED blinking ,dying to catch your attention)
- the "light bar " only works for , incoming calls, viewing photos and music album art , thats it.
- wonder what will happened to the white cover after few months..hehe

Famous dim blue light, happened to be the most important one to notify you of missed calls, sms and so on...
its dim and blinks so fast u can barely notice under bright lights.

I bought this phone really mainly because of the light and the cap.
was choosing between sola and this.
So far it still entertains my eyes but not sure for how long..haha
Its a good backup phone, since im using the 7" tab.

If you use a smartphone as a phone only.
This would be the good choice.

NovaThor U8500 include Fm receiver in the chip so all xperias will have FM radio .

Hi folks,  I'm wondering about xperia u and sola..  I do notice the price gap are so minimal..

I wanted to know what the different between them in term of camera quality..
I'm getting one of this for my mum in few weeks times...

So guys,  which one to get?  U or sola?
*
Get SO U. haha.
i think if for your mummy, Sola should be better, slimmer, slightly bigger screen.
and i dont think the fancy lighting will attract your mummy.
camera quality wise, should be on par...under enough lighting U can snap some nice shots, well low lightings , nothing much to say. For Sola, just check out some reviews online.

look like the battery not so lasting. 2 house of display time is very short. my sgs+ can last 4 hour of display time.

Dual core on 1305mAH, it was expected. At least it allows me to reach home and recharge it, not like my Ace. Battery low even another 1 hour left before clocking out from office.

Luckily, Sony Malaysia aware of this puny battery and supplied with fast charger (really fast) and car charger as standard accessories.
*
Finally they getting closer to their MP3 fast charge function. 3 minutes for 30min? 1h? 2h ? i dont remember.
but i must say XPU battery life is not that bad..

Too dim notification light on XPU should be solve using this software

Illumination Bar Notification
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...minationcontrol

So far I test on XPS...  tonight test on XPU.
*
installed in my xpu.
so far so good. been waiting for this app for some time..
one thing is that even with the SLOW settings, i still personally thinks it glows too frequent.
and if you are playing with ur phone while an SMS came in, the light wont stop until u go into the sms and read it even with the setting of " Stop light when screen is unlocked".

overall loving it.
needs more settings maybe for whatsapp or line..or email...
then maybe the battery will die off fast..hehe

won't use battery to much.. 3 LED only...

With 2 AA and 3 LED always ON can go up to 2 months...
*
awesome . thanks for the info.

if battery shouldnt be the issue..then shall i worry bout the LEDs lifespan itself? hehe

cant wait to get more use of the notification bar..its the lighting that makes me go from a 4.3 to 4.8 to 7" and down all the way to 3.5" ..haha

Its much longer battery life than those at same price range like lumia 710 .

agree.

QUOTE(ktek @ Jun 16 2012, 01:49 PM)

I'm kinda interested in Xperia U.

Any users here mind sharing their experience? biggrin.gif

whats makes this phone rocks and different of other xperia is mainly the notification bar with 7 different lights.
recently a new app named Illumination Bar did what Sony didnt do.
Allowed the notification bar actually notify you for SMS and missed CALLS.
that is good enough for me to hang on to this baby for some time.hehe
Im attracted to lights.. dont know why..haha.

other than that..

battery life is good. 9 hours usage with data /bluetooth/ left 37%
as u use up more memory, it tends to lag a lil bit for sure.
especially when loading folders in desktop.

i got nothing bad to say bout this phone. hehe. other than dont know when ICS is coming.
