Not sure specifically which part, but once you cut wiring, next time your horn rosak they might also blame your HU.

I have found one use for the SAT, for example....

You're cruising at 120 (about 2.7 - 2.8k RPM) , you wanna overtake a bus going almost as fast as you. You either floor the pedal and wait the RPM to climb to 4k where the max torque is, or switch on SAT, press the throttle to induce a downshift and watch your RPM instantly rise, then press all the way until you overtake the bus, then switch off the SAT.

In short, you can used the SAT to induce a stepped downshift in gear ratio and increase the RPM faster than in CVT mode.

According to one of Punch Powertrain (Proton's CVT supplier company) employee,their gearboxes are tested till 250K KM & extreme temperature for reliability.Plus there are other strict test done to increase the gb reliability.
Not sure on what damage SAT mode will do for the CVT but my opinion is the gb should last till at least 200K KM.

Besides, you can do more than overtake a bus.

Like what Omara said, the SAT mode is all software.

That being said, I am also wondering if it may cause stress to the CVT due to the sudden change of operation parameters. I have emailed Mr. Kristof Verpoorten of Punch Powertrain, hopefully he will have an answer for us.

Haha ah yes, the infamous mysterious hanging connector.

The consensus is, it is for some sort of device for the export versions. Since that device is not available in local variants, all we got is a hanging connector. sad.gif

I have the same problem. My last visit to COE they could not reproduce the problem (I told them the vibration came at 2k RPM and above, so they go and rev 2k in neutral doh.gif ). By the time I got my car I realize the problem was still there, so I took the service advisor on a ride with me and show him the sound. He say should be the CVT mounting. He explains that it's not broken, just could not dampen the sound, and tell me to come back at 5K service to fix it.

Well I couldn't wait, I made an appointment for next Thursday and named the 2 service advisors as reference for the so-called "CVT mounting" sound. Hopefully they'll have a resolution for me.

In the mean time, I try to keep my RPM under 2k.

No la, After going in and out SC so many times, I takut wanna drive the car hard some times. Have to be gentle and all, no syok already despite some ppl say 1.6 fun to drive la and so on. Now the CVT mounting sound also make me sked to overtake cars liao.

Feels like paid more but missing out all the fun sad.gif

You're probably right, but damn scary sometimes that sound.

The other way I could reduce the sound when I rev is to pakai SAT.
