Some unofficial source suggested that Vortex is someone related to Costar(manufacturer of KBT and their stuffs include those aluminium things).
They even go as far asking the boss of KBT - 花大 if Vortex is related to KBT and 花大 say he don't know.

The 1st assumption is there because Vortex is able to land his hands on those in testing products even earlier than KBT people does. sweat.gif
*
Vortex has no relation to Costar.

Not sure what you mean by in testing products though?

Vortex had no relation to KBT. Thus ppl at KBT is suggesting that Vortex are probably people from Costar(which made the Race/Pure).

Testing products include those aluminium casing/keycaps teaser.
*
Vortex also has no relation to Costar, this is confirmed by Vortex.
End of speculation as far as the relations are concerned biggrin.gif

Based on that, I'd guesstimate that these alu casing/keycaps are made by Vortex themselves.

Hi guys, can I know if these keycaps fit on my Filco Majestouch 2?
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=13414583288&

Keycool keyboards looks like it is Cherry style, and I've seen pictures posted here before that Keycool uses Costar stabilizers - just wanna make sure.
Better safe than sorry right? tongue.gif

Spacebar does not fit

QUOTE(Slythape @ Apr 4 2012, 08:18 PM)
found that the hard way, now I only have 1, and my backspace is not even using the stabilizers, so I just search keycool in taobao?

shipping is cheaper from WASD unless you have stuff to get from TB

I wonder how will they send only few grams of plastic all the way from US to MY? hmm.gif
Throw into letter envelope and send?

Yes.

It cost about $2 to ship 10 plastic inserts and 5 stabilizer bars.

QUOTE(paradis3lost @ Apr 5 2012, 02:21 AM)
Not really that fussy about color tones. Just wanna make sure if it can fit...

Keycool spacebars will not fit FILCOs. End of story.

anyone ordered anything from wasdkeyboards before?

lets say I'm gonna order http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/pro...zer-insert.html

How long will it take to reach and are there any additional charges other than the cost and shipping from US?

10 - 14days
There is a postage calculator on the website. Use first class mail.

Separately, anyone know a good Korean proxy? Am looking to get a Milestone palm rest (size looks just about my taste) as fstop's buy may probably be more expensive. Would appreciate it if can PM me, thanks!

Ask our acrylic guy, bai, see if he wants to do it. laugh.gif

Actually if getting stuffs from taobao, I suggest better don't need bulk and finding agents instead. It would not be much more costly than original price(in fact mostly even cheaper than GH's group buy) and the shipping is fast enough.

Bulking many units of stuff made by acrylic all the way from China may not be a smart/safe choice. sweat.gif

However if you come across those taobao sellers which also having accounts in GH(namely IMSTO), may be they can help directly ship to you without the need of agents. Though, most of them also normally charge extra than the price in taobao(common business tactic, profiting more from those "RICH" westerner).

Cool, mind do a detailed photoshoot of the wrist rest(and keyboard on)? Also took some pictures of the shipping if possible as some people got theirs broken on shipping? rclxub.gif

Eitherway, can I ask if it really do 100% fit on FILCO? Cause some buyers in taobao leaving comments that it isn't a perfect fit with FILCO, still leaving a little gaps at sides(?). unsure.gif
*
Actually, that is due to paypal charges.
If you can pay them using Alipay/Credit card, then it should be quite cheap.

But shipping wise, use the forwarder will be better.
I found that even if we bought 20 cases for example, shipping using Shun Feng will be more expensive than using the forwarders.

Opaque acrylic out next week.
MKC told me the magnets have quite the holding power.
Now i feel a bit regret trading a Cherry Red Esc for the case from litster. But hey, it's already done.

The default one is fully transparent one.
May be they are making an opaque one incase some ppl don't like something that transparent.

The magnet is to hold the top and bottom of the case together, nice try indeed. FYI, the case doesn't even use screws. whistling.gif

BTW, kai, you people stalking the MKC boss for all these infos? rclxub.gif

so now Imsto is making the aluminium casing for POKER.... langtou no longer doing any titanium business... sigh.... his work was great.... cry.gif

resistance is futile.

All the money set aside for the European metal casing are seeping away.
Better book with chinese money with imsto directly. this is a must have.

It would be cheaper for you to engage your own taobao agent and do that.
That's the way the pricing structure works for our agents.

Considered cheap for 10th anniversary version Realforce.
Cyclone's ANSI 10th anniversary was going a wee bit more.

How do you even get used to Japanese layout?

Thats true smile.gif
But for me, since im on a tight budget, and I do come to Japan quite often, if price difference is too big, the might be more worth it to get here.

But amongst those 3, which is better in your opinion? To my knowledge, the CM Storm is by Filco OEM, thus it offers more compatibility and quality i guess from sam, the Poker KBT. Is this true?

Or is the Poker generally more preferable compared to CM Storm Quick Rapid?

Of course if I can get a Filco TKL, that'll be best, but for a budget of RM250 or so, i highlight doubt so sad.gif

Thanks ^^
*
I'd get the CM Storm Rapid, then buy an acrylic case from Taobao to remove the horrible branding and stuff.
It's RM239 at C*X, I've seen it went for RM220 when you buy a bunch of stuff from them.

Actually, IIRC, Leopold FC200R having same OEM as FILCO. But in this case Keycool is related to FC700R instead, which using a different spacebar standard than FILCO.

All keys should be compatible/swappable, except the spacebar.

Also, if you are a backlit freak, you may aim for Keycool's BL 87keys(probably around RM230-250 b4 ship) which is like an improved version of old Keycool(the spacebar incompatibility fixed). I am quite sure that the resell value of BL keyboards will be higher... rolleyes.gif

CM has the same mounting as FILCO, which the PLU copies
Since they acrylic case fits the PLU, hence

A keycool version gonna come out next.

Just wondering, how do black alps switches compared to something like Cherry MX Black switches?
*
The simplified black ALPS, the ones from Ducky will feel very very light compared to MX Black, and they are noisy too, from the bottom out and rattling of the keycaps.

The complicated black ALPS from the DELL AT101W have the same actuation force, or more compared to the MX black, but you'd be better off looking for good condition ones. Old complicated ALPS don't age well. They feel like crap.

Both type of ALPS are tactile and non clicky. But they still make a ton of noise.
A ton more compared to MX black.

Interesting, thanks for the explanation.

I'm already using a SteelSeries 6Gv2 so I'll like to try something new. Would it be recommended to get the  Ducky DK1008XM with the ALPS if it's selling at RM149?  smile.gif
*
You should go meet storm88 and try out the ALPS.
I would not get it.

If you want to try something new, get a FILCO/Realforce/Leopold/DUCKY shine etc.

Get from Korea. You gotta stalk the Korean Group Buy section. I only have access to the KBDMania ones, don't know how the OTD ones works out.
The springs here are 55g and 62g, not sure if the gold plating would change the feel. Luckily for me, the guy took paypal, and there was not much of an issue in getting them.
