QUOTE(sarf2k4 @ Mar 2 2012, 06:11 PM) same, only adds touch capabilities rather than using the button to select the menu dont think there is any fast charger since usb rated amp is 1a max, 1a generated from usb charger often can get around 700-800mA, not always be a full 1A, unless u can find a usb charger provides 2-3a with thicker usb wires but not sure if the phone can withstand 2-3a since it will cause more heat The phone pulls the amps from the charger and charger pushes voltage to the phone. That is why you will burn your equipment if you plug in a charger with the wrong VOLTAGE. The charger will supply whatever amp that is required by the phone up to the chargers max amp. If the phone made to only draw 1A, supplying it with a 2A charger will not charge it any faster. If the phone can draw 1.5A, but comes with a factory charger 1A, then by replacing the factory charger with 2A will make it charge faster. It all depends on the phone is made to draw more amps than the factory charger. That is why when you use a universal charger for notebook, you only need to set the Voltage but not the Amp. Same concept applies to mobile phones. This post has been edited by sleepwalker: Mar 2 2012, 07:10 PM

QUOTE(AMDunFreak @ Mar 2 2012, 06:39 PM) How do they know is water damage? Didn't you dry it properly before send to service centre? That's because they put in water damage indicators on the motherboard of the phone that turns red once it touches water. I think there is one on the battery compartment area too. That is how they know you have water damage. If you were to remove these indicators, it would also void warranty.

QUOTE(sarf2k4 @ Mar 2 2012, 07:29 PM) i not very sure about electronics i got experience on charging battery 7.2v with 4a to charge 4700mah capacity would take up to 1h 40m (nimh. should apply on lithium based as well). but charging with 4a with decent thin wire would burn the wire... this was my experience didnt mention about voltage, but most usb provides 5v and avg amp of 1a... i really wonder how is battery is charged, is it the charger supplies the current or phone pulls it? if phone pulls from the charger, means the rated charge amp on phone would be much lower if we use the phone... no offense I have no idea about what you are trying say here. I'm trouble understanding your grammar. All I'm saying is that the device determines the amp and not the charger. Some device have a limit on how much amp it can draw, some doesn't. The amp on the charger will not kill the device because it does not force amps on the device. Voltage is forced and that kills the device if you get it wrong. I'm using pull and push to explain because it is as simple as it gets for anybody who does not understand electronics. I have charged my Note with my Tab 5V 2A and it works just fine. Try doubling the voltage and you'd see smoke coming out of the phone. Doubling the amp will not kill the device.

QUOTE(picy91 @ Mar 2 2012, 11:48 PM) Thats true.. But why they simply said need to change mainboard? Why the cannot change the faulty IC only? Not easy to identify the part of the mainboard that is faulty. Much simpler and cost effective to swap the mainboard out.

The never ending battle between external power/battery or a bulky internal extra cap battery. Carry an extra power bank or lose the slim form factor. With the extra bulk, the Note looks like an indestructible Nokia. There's a chinese saying for this extra bulk.. 'Throw dog die...' (lost in translation would be throw at dog.. dog dies..).. ahhahaha..

QUOTE(muffdiver @ Mar 12 2012, 11:41 AM) After using for 1 week, I really don't feel the extra weight or size anymore. I used to own an iPhone before this, now I don't think I can go back to any smaller sized screens. Plus, when in original battery, the thin size made me slipped the phone from my hands a few times. Luckily managed to catch it before fall to ground! Just saw some poor fellow who dropped it a few pages back. With this extra width, it just feels right for a guy but looks too rough for a girl. Here is the backcover: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « LOL! The one to "throw dog die..." would fit my old galaxy tab but not this baby. I can't bring myself to carry the 7" in my backpocket all day and have to carry another phone just because it's stupid to use the tab as one. My Tab has now become my gaming console and book reader. Just need to change the SP as it is pretty scratched up due to daily usage as primary phone for a year. Now that I have seen the backcover, it confirms the fact that the Note will be twice as thick and beginning to look more like a 'throw dog die' Motorola... ahhahaha.. really reminds me of the old Motorola extended battery with the curve top and bottom (I can't be the only one.. ). Thanks for the pic.. might settle for a Yoobao power bank instead.
