my phone decided to screw me up and almost got me late to work for my first day in new job. then it had to act all funny and suck up all the battery. by noon, it was 20%. i ended up flashing MIUI 2.4.6 ROM instead of WIUI latest ROM. older tech, but more reliable

Wiui latest 2.4.20. Anyway, like long88 says, lazy to flash. As long got stable ROM, i'm happy now. No need ics also never mind, but if cm9 can have stable version, I won't mind. Probably using this phone until end year minimum, then see what android goodness next year

My defy+ got bitten by my colleague's dog when I was drunk on the porch when i got back from drinking. screen has a major crack and the back cover has holes BUT the phone survived and is still working like a charm! There are some parts of the screen which is not responsive to touch anymore..gotta rotate it sideways to type some letters.

Can i send it to brightstar? will it cost a bomb? dayumn..

drillz provided..

I drop my Defy "again" last few day..

this round appear a circle middle of screen .. starting like small spot and now getting bigger. Other than that all working fine..

@@ ... time to change phone?? Nope .. no next water proof phone in my list yet. So .. may look for screen replacement.

it's not complicated actually...
you can find all the resources needed at xda developers forum...
at the moment i'm using cm9 (ics 4.0.4), last updated 22/05/2012...
but i change the launcher from trabuchet to apex launcher...coz the trabuchet is a bit lag with the animation/effect when scrolling...

the battery seems good, normal usage with data plan enable & facebook update, email update, making call & internet browsing, the battery could last for the whole day...
later charge it back before sleep at night lor biggrin.gif
and i'm on BL7 kernel... tongue.gif

if u on BL7, you'll need to install the rooted stock rom first...

then u need this stuff:

1. 2ndinit...
2. latest cm9 (i'm using the Quarx version, they said it's better than epsylon version, but i never tried epsylon tongue.gif)...

then just follew the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1618904

good luck...

this baby has been serving me since early 2011, which makes it almost 1.5 years by now. original setting, still running on 2.1 thou. =P

any suggestion for a better battery replacement? and where to get one?

it depends on what apps running in your phone too.

i dun undestand u why u still using 2.1 lor
cause 2.1 was the original OS version, and neither do i bother to update/flash/root it.

to me, its a good ol' brick that i dun have to worry when hiking in the jungle, walking in a rainy day, or throwing it at the blardee stray dog that ran away with my left shoe. tongue.gif

the same reason i stick with stock 2.2 biggrin.gif i only change the launcher if i ever get bored with the interface

3G or HSDPA will happily eat the battery like we eat watermelons. and it also depends on the quality of the network signal in that area. weaker signal will make the phone work harder to keep it connected to the network, thus eating the battery more.

well, you might just wanna try flashing it since it's like gonna be end of life for your phone. you might just extend your phone's life by using a custom ROM. it's not THAT difficult after all...and the result will be amazing!!

my 3G/HSPDA is always on, but usually it'll last me for a day. normal usage is approx 1 hour phone chat, SMS/MMS, whatsapp, FB, gmail and some converter apps for work.

but recently the battery seems to be have gone kuku. charging is less than 20 mins for from 0 to full, and it wont last like how it used to be. so i suspect the batt is probably the main issue after few different attempts to charge with different types of charger.
