could be that 'free modem' package is only for rm88
if ur dad is subscribing the 66 package, then no free modem. the free modem here in key-el is subsidised by the reg company like gen3.

if u r reg for 88 package, then definately the fella is conning u.

OTH , he might be right

there are many "flavors" of ADSL , G.Lite , etc..Maybe the modem only supports one flavor of ADSL..It depends....

There is such thing. My area wont support any adsl2 ready modem. Its something has to do with the type of cables underneath. The DSLAM cant verify your modem. THe DSL light is not blinking, but you cant connect to the remote. I tried several different type of modems which is ADSL2 ready, all same result.

some brand modem doesnt work with some brand dslam, but on common sense, if tmnet want to give free modem, they must gave u a brand/model that will for the dslam u are using.
