I been trying to search for working table set, working top.. Don't find anything what is nice and below 1k. My plan to have a working table around 6ft, so I can have two chair, usually I am the one working, but my wife sometime work in the evening too.

Now I am thinking to use Ikea kitchen wood worktop, stain it to dark color, and do final finishing. Get the 4 leg (maybe 5 for center support)

Table top

And get VIKA legs..

That maybe end up around RM 700.00 for a nice wooden working table.

Any other ideas?

Ask furniture shop custom make for you. But the price will BOOM you away. I got quote 2 feet long table top with drawer & cabinet more than RM1.5K.

Thinking of doing a L-shape office table / game table for my mini office at home so I can work and play all at the same place.

Probably will get a carpenter to build it to spec but not sure how much that will cost just yet. A project for the future.

Wow bro, you have the same idea with me, but I am going to the lower cost worktop
http://www.ikea.com/my/en/catalog/products/20175664/

It is melamine laminated thus it better than the VIKA table tops, which the edges tend to crack and chip after few months.

I have DIY using RATIONELL shelf board as well. Same thing, melamine laminated thus is suitable for normal usage.

Hi Venzen,

For the Melamine, how do you finish the edge? Is Ikea Melamine edge finish with the melamine or just expose?

I would suggest going to a second hand office furniture store and just buy whatever you want. smile.gif

I got my L-shape table 7 feet x 5 feet, only RM500. smile.gif Very good comfy office chairs with everything adjustable (back rest and arm support can go in and out, as well as up and down, and swivel the top inward/outward). RM300 for this fancy chair. smile.gif

I went to look around, for the same sized L-shape table, looking at around RM1k. New office chairs that offer the same sort of adjustments are at least RM800, if not RM1000++! CRAZY!

Second hand, very good condition, almost like brand new. More reasonable price. wink.gif

Still prefer new, if I can build one with that cost, why not smile.gif

Temporary solution, I got myself a long folding table. So I can wait will budget recover before working on this table.

for the edge/side, currently is exposed. I am still looking for suitable solution. I didn't know IKEA got edging band until I browse the kitchen worktops.
I have found some edge bands in ACE hardware, which is around RM17+, forgot what's the length, too expensive for me thus didn't get it.
