Hi brother,

Currently my pipe from outside meter to kitchen and tangki is steel pipe, i want to change it to PVC, meaning just build a new pipe to kitchen and tangki only, my house is double storey 18x60, and the contractor charge me for RM2.6k just for plumbing, include hacking and plastering. Is it a reasonable price? Because i feel tat PVC pipe is not so expensive...

Thanks ya!

Yo brother,

Just a question from me, my house is extending kitchen and car porch, both are roof tiles. These few days a lot of rain, and cause leakage, but my contractor told me that is because 2nd floor roof no gutter, could this be the reason on the leakage? Because previously it also have no gutters, and the previous car porch also no leakage.
Looking forward on your proffesional advice, thank you.

hi bro,

i would like to know, does your leakage area near or due to the reno?..if due to reno then that your contractor do not do it properly. If not, then it mean that leakage is nothing to do with reno, then there are possible causes:

1. Roof tile crack (this condition if eg any one had gone up to the roof that cause the roof tile crack, roof tile is very sensitif, do not let anybody gone to the roof if he do not have knowledge especially where to pijak on the roof. If not then this is due to 2nd reason below:

2. cement rabung crack. Normally and it is very normal that after years, the cement rabung will crack (this condition happend if the contractor had not properly do it, read my thread about rabung cement). Solution, use the waterproofing compound PYE brand (i use this brand) as in the photo i posted.

it very helpfull if you could post your roof photo.

gd luck bro

Yoyo, thanks for your advice.
Just for your information, the leakage side is new roof area, not old roof area. My house is double storey, i only extend kitchen and car porch. Which means the kitchen and car porch only extend on ground floor. That day i saw both kitchen and car porch roof has leakage, i have told my contractor, but he told me the leakage is not because of tiles problem, is because of 2nd floor roof side do not have gutters, and causing the rain drop into ground floor roof, and somehow cause leakage.
Is it possible? Because i saw a lot of double storey house 2nd floor roof do not install gutters.
And normally install gutters for 2nd floor roof will cause how much (house 18 x60)? Just gv a figure, thanks.

hi bro,

your contractor is bluffing you, he did not want to admit his mistake. the problem is due to your contractor workmanship..asked him to correct the problem. your problem is NOT due to gutter, that your contractor problem. If he did not want to rectify it, cut his payment.
just to answer your question about gutter, the material cost round type gutter is expensive about RM8 per ft.

My awning at the balcony area was splashing water after it drop to the fencing. I have to add on the gutter and it cost me RM25 psf including workmanship and piping for PVC  U shape type.
