Hi bro tomjason,

Just want to get some opinion from you.

Do you know any pros & cons between tiles and laminated wood flooring?
Plan to change my 2nd floor tiles to laminated wood flooring (like what Floor Depot selling).

Any additional cost for labour or any special attention needed when change from tiles to laminated wood flooring?

Thanks smile.gif

Hi bro,

The advantages of laminated wood floor :

1. It is elegant and have many choice design.
2. Since it is natural wood, it soft to your heel and normally do not cause your heel crack compared to tile that can cause your heel dry and crack.
3. Some manufacture claim that can normalized your body ion, it give your body ion -ve. Eg Ionwood (google ionwood). That good to your body as it reduce your body static. Pls do not use nyatoh wood for floor cause nyatoh wood usually after some time can crack..use other wood eg Merbau  thumbup.gif , semangkuk etc. I like the ionwood product. Cause my body has a lot static..hahaha...
Disadvantages:

1. Most manufacture claim that their product is treated with anti termite and water proof and scratch proof. If you you were to buy, ask them how long the treatment and water proof /scratch can last or tahan..how many years or life time.
2. Even though the flooring is is waterproof , it is not advisable to mop it every day compared to tile.
3. Laminated floor use latch mechanism assembly, if one portion to replace, susah a bit compared to tile can replace piece by piece.

I hv already whatapp you estimated price. Also it depend on product u want to use. To change from tile to laminated floor, easy..they do not remove your tile, they just lay foam on top of your tile and assembly the wood floor.

Hi bro tomjason,

Good morning smile.gif

The part where they lay the wood floor on top of tiles, won't the floor level will "up" a bit? How about the existing doors? Will it stuck?

Thx smile.gif

yes..floor level will 'up' a bit..they will check first...if the door stuck..maybe need to remove the tile. They need to survey first.

Hi bro,

Thx for the feedback.

If they remove the tiles, will they need to re-cement again to make the floor even before install?

Thx smile.gif

Usually no need unless your floor badly uneven that lain cerita. biggrin.gif

Forgot to mention..if you do not want all your tile removed, if your door is wood door they can potong a bit your door but if your door is plywood door then cannot potong your door.
