my place at setia alam, famous for the soft soil. Intend to do extension, 20x9.
I not how should the footing need to be done. My neighbour had done his extension, but not on the other side. Possible we share the load with my neighbour?
My intenstion is no wall tiles only floor.
Agak how much will it takes?
Another question, if dun use bakau wood what other solution can use? From my experience, most of the resident did bakau but also can't avoid the crack happen on the extension.
Any idea?
I want to hack my existing counter top, is about 10 feet. Normally how much they charge? hacking and disposal.

Hi expect need your advice on the electrical stuffs.
Previously I did for water heater point x 2. The wireman never add extra at the MCB but instead tap from the existing point. If not mistaken they tap from my 13amp but they change the fuse to 20amp. They mention one point tap from 2 13a soure, eg neural tap from one 13a and life from another 13a. That time I also blur blur believe Ok.
Now I want to add 2 extra air con point at my upstair room. I know many of them tap from standard 13a plug. But since my 13a plus already been tapped for heater.
My idea is, add one MCB for upstair to support 2 x heater point (rewire) and 2 x aircon point.
For my my lower ground extension, i want add one oven point, 1 x 13a with 2 socket loop, 1 x 2.5 for lights and fan.

Agak agak how much. I think need to change my current MCB, only got 2 kosong tempat.

So far so many forums ask advice, has anyone already start their reno work?

My plan is end of the year or early Y2013. Must wait after 2012.... haha.

hi bro,
very dangerous water heater looping....eventhough the contractor change the fius, this make even more dangerous cause the system will not tripped and will burden the wire.....the wire will generated heat..long term can cause fire and shorting..VERY DANGEROUS....

if you wan to be save if do not want to rewiring the heater, you can buy the tool heat scanner/gun that can measure the heat of your wiring (on both the heater and shoot with the scanner)....

for aircond and heater must pull direct from DB....

since you want to put extra DB..better change the heater wiring....

one more thing...DO NOT USE CHINA BRAND WIRE.....use only Sirim Approved such as Mega brand etc...

below is basic formula for wiring for you and other forumer...consider this also as TIPS:

Wiring

Downlight(lighting) around RM60-65
Downlight (lighting) loop RM40
Aircond cable 2.5mm RM150
Socket cable 2.5 mm RM120
Fan    Rm70
Water heater 2.5mm RM150
Wall light  RM60
Upah pasang light RM5-RM8
Upah pasanag fan RM20
Oven 4mm cable RM200

My house i design my house with 2 DBs...at back DB using 16 mm wire size....my advised to you...for your upper DB must use at least 16 mm cable from meter....

want detail inform me...

good luck

Thanks for the advice.

The reason I dun trust other contractor, not because they no good. Just because they can't convinced me. Everything should be supported by technical facts and standard rules. Sometimes nothing happen doesn't means is Ok. But what if the condition is different then you will be in trouble. Engineering calculation and specs doesn't do it as suka suka, it based on many conditions and theory to conclude it.
It is nice for you to share your advice.

Hi TOM,

Need advice again. Ok, after measuring my vacant land, size is at 20 x 10.

Got contractor advice go for concrete piling and go for 5 points, 3 at the front and 2 at back. But he never mention the footing size and the depth for the piling.
I understand that concrete piling required some heavy machine to do the job and the cost could be high.
So any advice on the cost of concrete piling, it is 5 point of footing is too much or 4 will do. My intention is just simple single story extension never go for double.

Now my one side neighbour had done his extension, so meaning I will need to do the front and one side. What will be the estimate cost, if

1) One security door.
2) 4 panels aluminum window.
3) Laying floor tiles only.
4) Hack wall with door and window frame, size bout 8 x 7.
5) Standard roof tiles with standard ceiling.
6) one drainage for kichen sink and 2 paip points.

Thx

Hi intention to convert my back lane area into dry area for keeping barang.
Make a concreate cement with 6 feet wall brick the put awining and grill.

1) Convert the grass soil to concreate cement with Y12. 10 x 20, thickness of 5 inch

2) Brick wall with plaster. 6 x 20

3) Grill with powder coating. 3 x 20

4) Steel awning 20 x 10

5) Create a 2 paip outle plus one drainage for sink.

Do you have any 'reliable' electrician? I need to do some rewiring for air con and oven.
