Avast seems ok for me... quite stable and it block most of the ads and some viruses

my brother, most probably you are infected already. normally they block any access to all antivirus... i do suggest you to try and dl any trial AV from other computer, then install it. if you cant then you might need to install it from safe mode.

Why need to be so difficult?

Just use a different PC and download the installer like Security Essentials to your USB storage drive. Seek help from your friend's house, cyber cafe, etc.

Use Comodo or Avira

One more vote for MSE. Though it slows down your startup time.

fyi, avast update more frequent than avira.

plus, the update size is smaller than avira.

therefore, avira need more time to update. somethime cant update at all, maybe internet connection is slow but still, avast can update in slow connection because of the smaller update sizes.

only paid version of avira can have a better speed of update server to link to.

there free antivirus which cannot up-da-te latest new virus defination so I think you should use paid antivirus software only that you can always detect out what the latest virus if affected

last year, i was using that site to compare avira vs avast. seems like avast performance is not bad compared to avira. it doesnt affect system very much.

bc before this im using avira. but seems like avira doesnt detect lately founded virus. after switching to avast. poofff...

Was using Avast until recent update to Avast 7. Then poof. High CPU usage slowed everything down. Spec old computer windows XP with 512MB ram. Removed avast everything back to normal. Now looking for light anti virus.

Avast 7 seems to be working fine on both my systems.. no CPU/RAM hogging.

actually avg free av aldy improve a lot since few yr back, i have tried it, really quite good and can compete with avira. i know 7yr ago it was not very good, coz a lot users can use it to clean their virus completely.

i'm currently using avira, been using it for a year or so but lately there are too many avira pop-ups that it's starting to get really annoying. anyone here has experienced this before? wonder if i should uninstall and go for avast instead..

full protection but it definitely not as strong as kaspersky & bitdefender, as i have tried mse on few of my company pc before, perform very weak.
